Quarterly subscription of £22.30 gets you a bag worth £60.

Nothing in the terms and conditions requires you to sign up to the full year.

We ask that you enter into a Direct Debit agreement with the intention that your subscription will continue for a minimum period of 12 months, even if the frequency of payment is for a shorter period (for example, quarterly). Once a Direct Debit Agreement is completed and accepted, it remains active until cancelled. This means that we will continue to take the payment due until the Agreement is cancelled by you at your bank and/or with ourselves. Unless we change any information on the Direct Debit schedule (term, claim date or payment) we will not send a reminder the next payment is due. Once a payment has been collected, no refund will be made and any cancellation will be from the next claim date of the payment. You have the right to cancel your Direct Debit in accordance with Direct Debit Guarantee below. If you do cancel, you will receive only the issues you have already paid for. If a gift is included as part of the subscription offer we reserve the right to request the return of the gift in the event of an early cancellation of the subscription.

does say if you cancel early then they may demand the gift back.

I would imagine if you cancel after the first quarter and it appears obvious you only subscribed for the gift, then they will ask for it back.

I disagree. I think I'd be able to think of a good enough reason and can't see them chasing for a £60 (rrp, i'd guess)

I am an avid motorcyclist and usually buy the issue in store. I have recently lost my job so I have had to stop all but essential financial agreements.

EDIT: to add, would they want a 3 month used example of the bag back? What would they do with it?

It's a lost leader. An agreement between the magazine and manufacturer.

They aren't going to chase you and lets be honest, you are getting the magazine cheap as well. Pretty good deal IMHO.

Aldi are currently doing a 44l duffel/roll bag for £10.

I bought the lidl one a few years ago and it's been excellent. The aldi one is better still.

I went for this offer and the Oxford bag never arrived - I questioned this and their reply was essentially:
"No stock lolz, T&Cs mean we can offer you whatevs"
So they've offered me alternatives:

AGE OF SUPERHEROES BOOK
MUC OFF CLEANING KIT
BK PALM RATCHET SANDER (WTF is that, even Google can't shed any light on what this is)

What a crock - basically never subscribe to MCN if the decision has been swung by the free gift, because they'll probably stiff you and offer some massively cheaper product instead.

At the time of writing, they're still offering the Oxford bag as the headline deal for this too. Very disingenuous of them, knowing it's out of stock and then throwing the smallprint at you.

ASA complaint submitted, ta.
I wasn't _entirely_ apathetic though - I was looking at their T&Cs, it clearly says that they reserve the right to offer a product of equal or greater value - I cannot find a retailer that offer the alternatives at [or above] the price of the Oxford bag, so I've asked them to demonstrate where they're getting the RRP figures from and some examples.

Is the magazine any good?

Based purely on their Youtube videos I'd expect it to be bland, shite and put together on a budget of 50p/month.

Subscribed to Ride because they offered the Teng socket set (the small one). Didn't have any in stock. So they sent me some Teng Spanners instead. Happy days Thumbs Up

I subscribed to Ride in 2012 when they were offering the R&G heated grips.

Ran out of them so they sent me some Oxford Hot Grips instead, with profuse apologies.

I'm not complaining, the Oxford ones RRP'd at twice as much and have more variable settings.

Given the price I paid for the subscription and the quality/enjoyment of the magazine I'd not really have been bothered if they didn't even offer a gift.

I'm back on for a bag - it seems the last Email was incorrect (and they've apologised for the 'misleading info') - although I have to wait another 28 days (which I can suffer)

Quote:
Thank you for your email.

I am very sorry for any misleading information previously given.

Unfortunately there is currently a delay on the stock being received into our warehouse, however, we do aim for this to reach you within the next 28 working days. I can assure you once stock arrives this will be despatched as a high priority.

Whilst you are waiting for your gift I do hope you continue to enjoy your magazine subscription.

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

Kind Regards,

So, back here in 28 days... (INB4 another "no stock lulz")
