I will be closing down my insurance business on 15th Jan.

I'm being forced to do this due to new insurance laws that I cannot comply with due to the extortionate costs of becoming registered with the new government financial watchdog (FSA).

All the data I've collected is up for sale, except names and addresses which will be deleted.

Stats:
Saved BCF members £9,476.36 on their insurance in total
Average saving £244.21

A special thanks to Bendy, Alex and G for all their help with Wozcorp. Thumbs Up Karma

Sorry to hear Danny Crying or Very sad

But I always thought you did this 'on the fly' - never knew you were doing it as a proper business, if you see what I mean.

Arrrgh, no....

I wanted to use you on my insurance renewal in March, you can't stop now Danny!

What's the problem with not being registered? I didn't realise you actually did anything that needed to be registered anyway.

Although, I didn't know how you did what you did in the first place! Smile

Unfortunately under these new laws I'm considered a broker, which means I have to be registered with the FSA.

After the 15th Jan insurance companies won't be allowed to give a quote for a ‘friend’.

It didn't cost you anything for Danny's time at the end of the day!!!

I don't see its harsh, I am just stating facts, and I witheld that information until he has declared himself that he is shutting the service down.

I fully acknowledge he has saved a lot of people a lot of money, and I saved Andrew another £50 just by phoning the two biggest brokers out of MCN, so I don't think he put in a huge amount of effort, in or he would at least have come up with that deal, I think he looked at the details and said to himself, "no, I don't think thats a bad quote I don't think theres a lot to be saved there", returned it to me saying "sorry can't beat that".

I would have happily paid his £30 fee for the £50 saving I found myself easily by phoning the big brokers. ....I thought the idea was, he did the phoning round to save me the trouble Wink

.......and I would add we were talking about £675 TPO for an ER5

Kasandrich, your right thats pretty much what I did.

When someone asks me to do a quote for them I look at the info they've given me and decide if I think I can beat that.
In your case I thought the price you had been quoted was very good and I didn't think I could beat it.

I would also add that the ER5 was for a 17year old. Wink

Motorcycle Direct beat it by £50, thus my impression of your service was that I was not impressed, I got one quote, (online from Choicequote) then came to you, your promise, is to phone round saving me the trouble and get the best price!

Well you didn't do it, did you?

As I see it you were in breach of contract.

I didn't slag you off while you were still trying to make a go of it, but seeing as you are folding the service anyway, I put it in as a "well I won't miss the service" posting.

No disrespect to you, I take my hat off to you for trying to make it work, hope we can all remain friends over this, or am I going to get loads of negative feedback over this Question

BTW the FSA and some of its rules stink.

Kasandrich,

I think that Danny worked extremely hard and saved a lot of people a lot of money. I did some ringing round for mine and he still saved me £50 or so.

Kick a guy when he's down why don't you?

Danny is one of the friendliest guys you could meet, and all he was trying to do was pay for himself to go through university.

Now that the service has been shut down by a change in the law there wasn't any need to rant about it (when you didn't pay anyway) on a public forum.

Very unneccesary. Thumbs Down

No, his contract, states, give him your best quote, and he will phone around and do the leg work, if he gets you a better quote you pay him £30, if not, then you pay nothing. and I might add, I only went to the trouble of getting one online quote and put my trust in Danny.

So the fact that I didn't pay him is irrelavant, we still had a contract, and he did not fulfill his part of the contract.

Danny, am I correct or would you disagree with anything I've said Question

and Marjay, I do not consider my post was a rant, when I start to rant you will know about it, and I haven't kicked him when he's down, all I've done is state that his service never worked for me.

As far as I’m concerned we hadn’t entered into the contract yet.

If I had sent you my terms and conditions and you had agreed then we would have entered into a contract imo.

Although to be fair I can understand how my advert could have misled you to think I will always call around.

I’m always happy to receive constructive criticism and don’t worry I won’t rate any of your posts down. Laughing

Well the way I see it...

If you phoned an insurance broker and told them a low quote, would you be surprised if they said "Sorry I can't beat that..." and put the phone down?

It certainly has happened to me before.

I don't want to get into an argument, mainly because I can't speak for Danny, I'm just putting forward my opinion.

kasandrich, have another read of www.wozcorp.com to see what Danny is offering.
Quote:
If you would like to apply to WozCorp to see if we can save you some money and the hassle of spending hours phoning around, all you need to do is click on apply now and complete the simple form.

That is what is being offered, Danny doing lots of phoning around is then offered if he thinks Wozcorp "can save you some money and the hassle of spending hours phoning around".

He thought that Wozcorp couldn't and so declined your business, logical really isn't it? Confused

Then and again, when I was buying my insurance, they gave me their 'best' quote, which was the lowest I'd found, so I followed it by a "Is that the absolute lowest you can do?" and they ummed and ahhed a bit, and knocked another £20 off. Smile

I'm not entirely sure what relevance the above has to the overall argument, but I would add that I was under the impression that Danny would phone round and get the best quote, so I can see where Kasandrich is coming from. I am kind of lost as to why there is an continuous argument erupting about it however.
