Hi All
I'm going to reintroduce myself - my last post here was in July 2010 - over the last few years my passion for bikes had dwindled and it turned into just a tool for getting me to work and back.. however, i have bought myself a new bike, and the passion has returned with it.
My last bike was a 1996 600cc Suzuki bandit - which i've had for almost 6 years.

However, for my birthday (11th of may) I bit the bullet and bought a duke.. prepare for photograph overload....
It's an 05, with 8500 miles on the clock, one (78 year old who sadly passed away recently) owner from new.. as you can see, it's a VERY clean bike.

Clearly a well looked after bike as is shown by the previous owners history:

This includes:
- Cool KTM Bag
- Original Reciept
- EU Certification doohickey
- Every MOT Certificate
- Every Service Stamp
- An 'Owner Stamp' for every winter lay-up he did
- Every single Receipt ever
- Datatag gubbins
- Fitting manual for aftermarket rear hugger
- Original Owners Manual
- Original SD 990 Brochure
- Original SD 990 Powerparts Brochure (complete with hand-written prices next to the stuff I guess he had on his wish list.)
- Magazine clippings of possibly every article ever featuring an SD990
- Some print outs from this very forums of mods he considered doing and/or did! - maybe he was a member? RIP David, thanks for a wonderful machine.
Since getting the bike, i've added some crash protection, a tank protector and some smaller mirrors - and i've got some shorty winging their way here..

That my friend is a tidy bike I've never seen one so clean
Great bikes to ride, I really enjoyed it aside from the breaking down. Handful to ride around town but NSL and country lanes, thing is a beast |

Some KTMs have fantastic styling, but this one does not appeal. It does look in fantastic condition though. ____________________ Current bike: ZX6R J1

Respect for riding that as an OAP.
Very tidy bike, I'd be jealous but I don't have a licence to ride it! |

Most look like a pile of buckled, orange Meccano with all the aesthetic allure of a crashed ride on lawn mower. But yeah - that's a minter! ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent."

Welcome back, and nice KTM. Really enjoyed when I test rided an 05 plate. Felt like it wanted to pull my head off in an MX lid . I personally prefer the look of the these to the new 1290. Love underseat pipes + Think the chin/belly spoiler makes it look more aggressive. Although the facelifted would also be my preference, with less orange.

I'd like a set of akropovic evo cans for it, but at £1300+ they are just waaaay too pricey.
I've been looking at other options and so far i'm thinking of getting a set of mivv suono cans which can be had for £500-600 depending on any potential customs charges that may get applied...
https://srv1.anotherbike.com/mivv/img/alllanguages/KT002L7_b.jpg
There are also some very good airbox replacements for the superdukes but they are all pretty pricey, talking £150 to £250, and the one that's rated the highest is out of manufacture now unfortunately - i'll just have to keep my eyes open for one on ebay. ____________________ Current: 2005 KTM SuperDuke 990

I'd save for a power commander first, PCIII USB one, get a map to remove the horrible jerky low end.
Then get new cans, a quick dyno to get it set up spot on and you'll be laughing |

If it were me. I'd just get the cheapest open pipes I could find to replace the whisper quiet stockers. Maybe look into a suitable map flash, depending on how it runs after fitting. .
But wouldnt even bother with airbox, or other expensive engine mods as i felt it rode a treat, maybe get a K&N mesh at most if available. But otherwise, jus spank that som biatch! ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.
