Interesting thread.
Bolt on anti spin, fuel/ignition mapping (you can also swap to another map on the fly) and quickshifter for £600 odd (Bazzaz unit)? That gets my vote. ____________________ My Flickr

It seems to me that performance and practicality is largely going backwards while complexity and cost increases.
Umm. Better fuel efficiency from smarter injection systems is a bonus. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Not sure when the first one came out, but wasn't on my radar until a few years ago, I'll go with helmets with internal sun visor. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Are we conflating bike technology with bike-adjacent technology?
Heated gear can be used in a car (I've built and owned a Lotus 7 replica).
Airbag gear was designed for horsists.
My GS is a far, far more competent bike than my Enfield. Lovely smooth FI, ABS, start and just go.
I far, far prefer the Enfield. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Tyre development is my too.
Couldn't really give a shit about ABS, Anti-Spin, launch control etc... They all take the good bits out of riding a bike. |

Either Tyre or engine development.
I'm still surprised by how much better on fuel my STR is compared to the Daytona 650, despite having a bigger engine, worse aerodynamics, more usable power and being ridden more spiritedly it goes about 40 miles further on a tank... Tanks smaller too |

On the same commute, with the Enfield getting me there in the same time, or quicker.
It would be a different story at a sustained 60mph+, but how many of us really do that, day after day, mile after mile? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
