Ok so basically, my bike was parked on the street and my next door neightbour(addmitted it was her she came over, brighton is a lovely place) reversed into it knocking it over up the hill.
fist thing first.
Paint diagram:
https://s24.postimg.org/65rcuoukl/crunch.jpg

Greed is obviously the direction she reversed into.(got a bit tag happy i think)
Damage is minor, snapped footpeg, indicator glass(plastic but i dont know what to call it) is snapped, one indicator can be pushed in when loosened off. bike rides straight(did 92 miles on it today so it should be fine i think but i'm no mechanic!)

any advice?. i know i can ask for her to foot the bill or insurance but i dont know the pros/cons of each and also how to go about any of this(should i take it to a mechanic, should i push indicator back or leave it?). Since i have 0 knowledge of anything like this i thought you geezas and gals could be useful if you wished to be

I would go through insurance unless she is offering to pay for it all upfront.

Lens is the word you're after Smile

I'd personally rather take cash than go through insurance if she's offered. Insurance would be a last resort.

Get quotes for replacement NEW parts, add £100 to the total and ask her for the money.

But used parts from Ebay.

Do not tell insurance, it will have to be declared for the next 5 years regardless of who is at fault.

As a side note, is there a logical reason they fuck victims over like this?
Is it purely because they can? or something more sane?

No idea why they enforce the non fault guy to declare... but they do. People say it affects premiums, I say otherwise Laughing

Given those circumstances, I'd thank her for her honesty, buy eBay parts, and fit them myself.

Civilisation, let's give it one more try.

Ran a new quote with my accident on, its gone from £240 to £400 with my current insurer, only cheaper with another MCE product @ £300 Sad

She owned up, I'd fix it as cheaply as possible and give her the bill. Actually for a footpeg and indicator(s) I'd just fix it myself.

the plan is get the local mechanic to quote and if its not too expensive(it shouldn't be imagine a max of £50-60 in parts and not much labour on that) i have no tools or mechanical incline to do this tbf

All you need it a new indicator and a footpeg. Just ask her to pay for the parts and fit them yourself. It's not like its a massive job.

OP can't fit a footpeg and indicator, it's probably a moot point.

I'm agreeing with Rogerborg, if she's been honest and decent with you, it would seem fair that you are honest and decent with her.

This needs to happen more, don't penalise someone for a mistake that is all too easy to make, as she has been OK about it reciprocate the effort she has made by making it easier for both of you.

i'm not gonna peanalise her, i've got the parts quote, if they want to fit the parts for me i'll get them but short of that my offer is for the parts damaged by her, which is only an indicator and footpeg+bolt so thats all i'm asking for. the add 50 quid stuff isn't my way of flying
