Hi all, thought I would introduce myself spent the month of March doing my CBT and DAS (Mod1 one minor, Mod2 two minors) and am now the proud owner of my cbr500r.

Hadn't been on a bike (if you can call my gp100 one!) in over 30 years and started to have enough of the train journey and cost to London so thought I would take to commuting on a bike.

Settled for the 500 due to insurance quotes and getting used to riding again, so wait for a couple of years get some no claims and upgrade then. Commuting is interesting approx 25 miles e/w early morning is fine but learning to filter is certainly an experience but following other bikers definitely helps.

Looking forward to the weekends for some more enjoyable riding.

Nice looking bikes, there's one parks up next to me most days the "R" doesn't look that daft on it. Fuelly reckons mid/high 70s mpg as well, and it's still probably more bike than you'll use on a commute.

Thanks have only had the bike a few weeks so still running in.
Looks like I'm averaging just under 70 at the moment but bike seems to have plenty of go when you need it Cool

Should get a bit better when it's run in, but that's still pretty good.

People bag on the CB500 variants as "only" having 35kW / 47hp, but for me it's more about torque. I do question just how much more power you'd actually use on a commute.

I swap between my Enfield (mid 20s hp if that) and my GS, and bar a few days when I'm feeling brave and naughty, they both get me there and back in pretty much the same time. It's all good.

Currently away at the moment but will def pits some more photos when I get back Very Happy

Went for the 500 as some of my commute us up the A3 from Guildford so extra torque is useful.

Will be looking to put on an SC Project exhaust slip on to improve the noise as the bike is pretty quiet.
