OK hi

I got pulled by the poolice for my broken exhaust. Noow I need a new one.

Now instead of getting a standard Exhaust for £100 i can get a cool Cool race exhaust for £80.

Im wondering if any one knows the legal requirements for 2 stroke exhaust noise???

Piccy=https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v123/ruizclaudio/big4973.jpg

and this is from the race exhaust review. It might help: homologation 97/24/EC

Does EC mean road legal?????

Its posted somewhere on the forum, but the law on exhausts have changed. The bike will fail the MOT if the exhuast is marked with either "not for road use" or "only racing", something along those lines..It may also fail if it exeeds a certain dB rating, but this is only determined through the testers ears. The exhaust doesnt need to have a BS stamp anymore, i dont think.

I will try and dig up the post.

What's wrong with your old one. Could it be fixed?

You can get exhausts welded for beer.

My can is a faddy daddy japanese,although it has no markings to say its road legal, it has no markings to say its not road legal either, though it is beastly loud, i take it i'd fail?

What can the police do if they pull you for a loud can?

Yo, ain't you getting your DT 125 sorted? So until then, can't you still chance it on your AP50 with a broken pipe? I know of a guy in college last year who ran his Honda X8R with the rear of the exhaust busted open, so it spewed smoke everywhere as well as being annoyingly LOUD. The fact that he got stopped twice never prevented him from carrying to ride his bike. If your standard pipe is NOT that badly damaged, i'd go with stinkwheel and see that if you can get your pipe welded, it would be substantially cheaper than buying a new pipe.

Hi

MOT worthy and legal are 2 different things.

So yes it will get through an MOT if it is as quiet as a standard exhaust in reasonable condition, but being a "race" exhaust it will be noisy and will not get through an MOT. I suspect from what you have said you have also got a defect ticket, in which case it will probably not do for getting that stamped either.

All the best

Keith
