Hi folks,

I passed my Mod 2 today (YAY)

I'm on an A2 license and I'm trying to get insured for a brand new Z800e - when I checked the quotes before, I was well within affordable limits.
Tonight I realised that when declaring a restriction on the bike, the insurance doubles or more.
I've rang Bennetts for example and they come up with £2026 for Fully Comp with a restrictor but only £903 without.
What do I do here? Are there any companies I can get insured with who have decent prices for restricted bikes?
I had assumed due to the date I obtained my license (today), and my current age (23) that it would be assumed that I had to have a restrictor on my bike for it to be legal?

HELP! I'm supposed to be picking the bike up tomorrow

This is off topic but why didn't you wait a year to do DAS?? Confused Im on A2 myself but Im 21..

When i was getting insurance quotes (I Have an A2 licence too) I stated I have a full licence, because i do and (i cant remember the exact details) but it didnt make any difference that i was on a restricted bike. Not even a penny! Penny Coin

Have you tried all the compare websites? try MCN they are seem cheap!

Why wait a year when you can do it now... the restriction isnt exactly that bad lol

Because they're idiots, and class any modification the same as fitting nitrous. And then they moan about people not declaring mods.

Typically they'll ask whether you have a "provisional" or a "full" license. A2 is full by that definition. So, full license, no mods, job done.

If you're really dead keen on declaring everything, try eBike - they added realistic pennies or pounds for the mods that I declared, and you don't have to do the Dance of Duncery with some phone spacker.

Don't declare the restriction. I didn't declare mine, yet they still asked for a copy of my restriction certificate due to my age.

Tis not the Z800e a "standard production" motorbike from Kawasaki? You haven't modified anything from the manufacturer it's a model in it's own right and produced and sold by them.

The Z800e produces bob on 70kW as standard.

Although it seems to use a detuned version of the Z800 engine, which produces 85kW.

...I wonder if you could change that back if you wanted to?

I'd say if this was a bit lighter (50kg...) then it'd be the ultimate A2 bike.
