Wow so much quicker than two people with radios... cause radios only go at the speed of light...

What a waste. Is this to show bikers what it's like to have a faster bike?

"Hey have a ride in this L plates user and see what speed it like"...

Publicity stunt that will (probably) never be used in real life. They will wheel it out at shows and events and PCs will rub each other off whilst looking at it.

Just like the tractors that some forces got stickered up for raising awareness of rural crime at country shows, or some such bollox...

Actually I see the Derbyshire one quite regularly near Glossop, they probably use it to chase all the 50cc ped bois from Gamesley.

Already covered (twice) in the VD article. It's an ornament, not for use.

If you suspect otherwise, feel free to FoI it, I've done the last couple and got the same answer: no cost to the Farce, no operational use.

Well, you say that. But the event at Sparkford at the weekend looks to be quite informative. https://www.somersetroadsafety.org/userfiles/downloads/40/BIKEDAY%202pp%20DLr3.pdf

What things like this do is create attention and dialogue on the subject.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ariel are loaning the car to plod for days like this. Where it will mostly be sat under several layers of polish doing precisely zero mph. It's not like they'll be allowed to chase crims with it! Imagine the paperwork... "I witnessed the accused pass me at approximately 80mph, so I set off at speed and the impact occurred 12 seconds after that" etc, etc.

I've spoken to 5-0 bike safety blokes a few times at various events and they all seem to be genuine in their interest of bikes and riding (fast, would you believe).

I quite like the look of the router perched on top of it.

"the Atom PL1 is intended to be a highly-impactive engagement vehicle that will send a cautionary message to motorcyclists"

I have found this also. They're bikers at the end of the day, and all the ones I've spoken to want to enjoy bikes just as much as us, but want us to do so safely.

Someone I know was out for a run and testing out their new GoPro... got waved over by a guy on a Blade after having a play with them at speeds up to 160mph over a 20 mile section of road.

Thought he was just gonna be like yeah good craic etc. The guy on the Blade was an off duty bike copper on his own bike, with a camera on the tank. Copper explained he was not best pleased with the speed, but was happy that the riding was done "in as safe and skilful a manner as can be at those speeds" and there was nothing overtly dangerous. He deleted the footage off both cameras, gave him a business card for an advanced riding course/school or something and let him on his way with some words of advice.

No harm no foul attitude.
Apparently the only real dangerous thing was at those speeds you obviously won't be able to stop if there is something just round the corner, everything else was "acceptable"

Personally, I find that hilarious, contemptible, and completely typical.

Yeah a little ironic isn't it. Tbf he didn't say the copper was being holier than thou or anything, not criticising his riding, just giving him some words of advice.

But yes it does seem a little bit.
