Has Guy Martin ever won anything? I'm not one of those folk who dispisie Martin but I do just wonder why he gets so much made of his chances at the IOM TT.

He gets interest because people who don't follow road racing know who he is.

But also cos he's regularly had podiums at the TT, so it isn't outside the realms of possibility that he's gonna win one.

Why did he get black Flagged the other day?

Don't think it said on Itvs coverage.

Something was wrong with his bike, don't know what though.

I actually like his style on telly and sure he's a tryer. He's getting truly cuffed at the TT though, almost like a tradition.

Seems to be getting increasingly unlikely though.

He does need a TT win to remain credible, there's only so long people will put up with the gob on a stick personality, before they start to think he's all mouth and no trousers.

Personally, I don't think he's got what it takes, especially now Michael Dunlop is getting into his stride and is looking like the man most likely to pick up McGuiness' crown (although I see a big accident in Dunlop's future).

I doubt he will ever get the chequered flag now unless he gets a better ride and he will not get that ride because he has not got the flag. I like the lad though, uncomplicated and enjoys a wank.

Wanking, trucks, bikes, machinery of all sorts, tea and vintage Green Day. What's not to like about the man?
Vincent, if such a travesty, like you state as basically levelling the IOM were to ever occur, we would only see the bobby no balls dorna motogp parade take over.
edit;
Back on thread.. No, i don't see him winning it. MD is young enough to be comparatively fearless. That counts for a few seconds a lap.

The Tyco Suzuki bikes are a consistent package, they just doesn't seem to be winning machines.

Plus with Michael Dunlop getting better every year, he could be dominating and winning most of the races for the next few years, or even longer.

I'd love to see Guy win a race, and no doubt he's got it in him as a rider, but maybe he needs to be on a Blade or S1000 to do so.

Maybe he needs to get out of his comfort zone and put together his own team, then he can choose the right machinery.

If you watched his "Speed" series, he spent far too much time being in awe of others, questioning his ability and demonstrating a 'that'll do' attitude; perhaps that was just the editing, but proper winners don't have any of that.

Maybe he does, but thats a big lot to pull together to compete in 5 races for a new team with no existing infrastructure. Competing as his own team in the supersport or superstock not so difficult, but to get a competitive superbike as well...

The winning teams have been around a long time and/or have significant factory support or works parts.

Maybe if Suzuki put more into the bikes and brought new GSX-Rs out, and I mean new new ones, not the same thing year after year, then they'd be equally competitive or more so.

this. Guy said in an interview the other day the bikes the pretty much spot on with nothing to improve on and what they do try ends up goin backwards.

Guy has won many races at the UGP including a hat trick, the IOM is not the be all and end all with the UGP being the faster circuit with mass starts unlike the IOM which is only a time trial. He has nothing to prove imo.

Not to anyone else he doesn't. He wants to prove to himself though, perhaps feels he has to prove himself.

I don't know how about others, but I find the fact, that he takes part in many road racing events and the TT on a 1000cc sports bike, already impressive itself. + not everyone is good at time trial racing. Thumbs Up

Those of you that ride, let's say bigger motorcycles, know that it's not that easy to go fast on it everywhere. On closed road course or opened, the tar and bends are the same.
