Hi Guys,

basic question .

I need some advice to help make a decision. As some of you know I have two bikes
R6 and SV650

Now R6 is my main commuting bike and no longer use the sv650. I only use it for track days.

I am more of a car guy and do karting and drifting hence may only do1-2 track days a year on the bike (sv650). Further reasons for
doing small number a year below Very Happy

I bought it for £2600 ( quite steep I thought but did like the bike ) and if I was to sell it , I wouldn’t get anything more than £1800 or max 2k I think .

It is a very clean and has got 26k on the clock 05 model.
For me 2K is not a considerable amount but can still go to my saving for drifting and other things.

If you were me would you have kept the bike or sell it ? If I hold on to it, it will continue to lose value which I am not concerned that much but it is a more of should I keep it for 1-2 uses during the year where as I could sell it now before it looses value.
there is also an aspect of storing it and been worried that it may get nicked ....

I have a lot of advice thrown at me from family for doing bike track days as it is classed as dangerous hence why I wouldn’t be doing more than 1-2 a year for the sake of avoiding argument Very Happy

Would you have sold yours?

If you're hardly going to use the bike and it'll only be used twice a year max for track days, i'd sell it straight away before it devaluates more and you lose more money on it (good time to sell now, in the summer).
You'll also save on insurance costs and as you said, the risk of it being stolen will no longer be there if you sold it, it's just one less thing to worry about.
That £2k could be saved away & stored for a rainy day or spent on a real track bike (not road bike) or throw a bit of money at your R6 and a bit on a holiday, clothes, new gadgets etc' splash a little Very Happy

eBay or Gumtree. They're the two places I look when buying a bike so they're the two places i'd post a bike up for sale.

As said above though be wary on Gumtree, don't accept any paypal offers. If someone does a bank transfer don't hand over the bike until you've withdrawn the cash.

what is wrong with paypal offer?

it is the commission or people collect the bike and say they haven't received it hence claiming money back

It's something i've always done, but i'm always super paranoid with stuff like this and I like to ensure i've actually got the cash there in my hand before handing over a bike.

Pretty much this, leaving you without the money and the bike.

Oh, PayPal can indeed get royally fucked, but a bank transfer is about as safe as it gets. I actually prefer it to cash, as it saves both of us a pointless trip to the bank.

If you're not using it. Sell it. You've got an R6 you can take to the track anyway.

if your gonna sell the SV use:

Gumtree - is free and any silly offers texts or emails just delete and dont respond and do not accept paypal payment!

Ebay - use the classified ad which is 14.99 for 7,14,30days your choice, do not use the auction waste of time as people win then no show for the bike.

its what ive used and has been fine for me

anything that sounds or looks dodgy or complicated delete or ignore!

so many dickheads and scammers its best to delete and move on
