It's for a friend, and think it was on the street.

It's a long shot, probably already been dissasembled and shipped off to Europe by now... He has insurance though but he'd only had it about two weeks!

Stolen from here EC3N 3EL which fortunately has cameras...doubt they'll be worth much though.

Same here.

It might be wiser to ask folks to send you a PM, rather than posting your phone number on a public message board though.

Good luck and I hope there's a happy outcome in the end. Thumbs Up

Out of interest.
Was it locked or disc locked and was the steering lock on?

Just curious as its known in London that if not, one skidmark jumps on your bike, whilst his scrote friend pushes your bike along with his foot on the pillion peg from his moped.

Just curious because it's thefts that put me off riding my bike into London.

Disc lock, steering lock, Yamaha ignition protection and an immobiliser. Weren't gonna stop these guys, reckon it's been picked up and put in a van which is likely a ringer.

that will have gone straight in a van and has gone forever im afraid.

I cant believe that they put up railings to chain £200 push bikes to but nothing for £7000 bikes.

I've noticed in some areas they've started putting ground anchors in.

my advice on your next bike get a tracker and not the cheap shit thats on ebay which uses pathetic GSM/GPRS

probably not, by the time you come out of work at 5pm and realise the bikes gone they have had 6hrs stripping it. hardly rocket science to find a tracker on a bike (or car for that matter).

The ground anchors are ok but theres not enough of them. have you seen how rammed the bike bays are in the alleyway north of Fenchurch street towards the Lloyds building?

I hate to say it matey but you should have really chained it around that signpost. I wouldn't stick my bike anywhere that I couldn't get my almax wrapped around something. Tree, railings, anything.

Doesn't mean that they won't have a go at it though; although it might provide a better deterrent.

Hindsight is a great thing, I just hope the insurance company don't hammer you.

A cheap tracker will fail you like that, a decent tracker will alert you if the bike is moved without the key in the ignition. For mine I get two texts and a phonecall from the company within minutes asking me if I know where my bike is. The box is also fairly well hidden although it would be found once the bike is being stripped.

Hope the guy gets his R1 back though Sad

All very valid points, but a chain isn't going to stop someone who wants it bad enough. Bikes have also been getting stolen more frequently from the Minories round the corner, that place is patrolled, has CCTV and barriers...go figure.

A tracker will definitely get bought for the next bike, which I'm hoping will be a 2007/2008 R1 as long as the insurance pays out enough for my stolen one (which average around £4300-£5000.

Insurance has naturally gone up a lot, which is the real stinger for me. I'M being punished for someone elses scumbaggery. F*cking robbing sods everywhere in this country. Crying or Very sad

are you talking about the car park by tower hill DLR? I leave mine there, thought it was pretty safe until now!
