So i sold my GPX600R last June to a girl in Ayr, I filled out the logbook and I sent it away. Got my acknowledgement letter to say that I was no longer the owner etc.

Recently I started to get letters through from the DVLA to say there is no insurance on it, so they plan on fining me. Call them up, tell them i no longer own the bike and that i sent off the V5, that i got my acknowledgement, so why this hassle?

i was told to put it in writing. I did that and it got ignored. i got another letter through, and i got the same scenario. i scanned my acknowledgement letter and put it on the email but they don't reply.

i now have a letter from the procurator fiscal telling me i have 28 days to pay £150 or they will take action against me.

I appreciate £150 isn't much money to some folk, but I'll be honest, it is to me, and I don't see what options I have but why should I pay it? And what is the best way to get them off my case?

Just let it go to court. Submit all the documentation you have to the court. Claim costs. Win

This, you have the epic evidence, from the people accusing you, that you are not liable for the costs.

"here is proof from the prosecution, which I have shown them numerous times, that I am not liable, I'm not sure why we're here"

Thanks for the advice, so should I ignore it and then it goes to court, or do I reply telling them I wish to take it to court? I've never done anything like this before!

They will take it ALL the way in court, and constantly make you offers to pay it before the court session even moments before the session opens. Then just before the session opens will drop it, so they do not set a precedent.

Really? The Fiscal rather than Capita Ltd trading as DVLA collections? Thinking

Well, send them the acknowledgement as well. Show that you've done everything practical to avoid them embarrassing themselves in court.

If they're daft enough to take it to the Sheriff court, enjoy it. Turn up with your documents, tell the Clerk that you want a costs hearing regardless of whether the Fiscal drop it, and then claim your compo.

If you get a wee nippy sweetie called Ailish, give her a wink and tell her "Better luck next time". It won't be the first time she's heard that. Whistle

Thanks again,

Yep, definitely the PF, the DVLA Collections one was the second letter I got, I'm sure.

I'll send the Acknowledgement, as well as copies of the emails sent to the DVLA.

and if I do meet Ailish...shall I send her your worst regards?

Do not send any original documents, only copies of them! Keep the originals for court!

Ask her if she got the flowers.

Really, don't worry. When I sold the Burgman, I sent off the V5C recorded, saw on the Royal Fail site that it had been delivered, and was pitching a semi when I hadn't received the DVLA acknowledgement after 5 weeks.

Sadly, it did eventually arrive, but I do hold out some hope that they'll balls one up. Praying
