Since doing the CBT and starting to ride a motorcycle last year, i've been practising the art of shaking my head slowly in scorn at motorists that threaten my safety. You know them, those that are late pulling out of junctions in front of me, to name but one.

Tonight i gave Mr Ford Focus man the very same shake of the head. When stopping at the 2 lane red lights further down the road, he starts to wind his window down, I'm assuming at this point there will be fisticuffs
He then proceeds to tell me that i've left my indicator on, after spluttering my apology i then have to sit there another 30 seconds in abject shame praying for one or the other of the lights to go green.

Anyway, hopefully that's my lesson learned.

Think most people have multiple experiences like that, I compulsively click it even when I know it isn't on these days!

Always be sure the turn signals are off when you don't need them. People could assume you were about to turn and won't give you way.

I can't remember the last time I used indicators on my bike

As I always used to forget to turn them off, you have too much to think about on the bike it's easy to forget they are on

Not using indicators has benefits, at roundabouts etc everyone waits as they have no idea where your going Thumbs Up

You do have a point though. I trusted an ER6f's indicators once while entering a roundabout, two seats were soiled.

Tsk tsk. You just saw the L-plates and assumed he was new to the road. Didn't consider the fact he might have FULL CAR. That used to piss me right off, driving around just fine in my car, then hopping on to my 125cc with L plates and being treated like absolute shit by some cagers who see the L's and think they are better than you/can do what the fuck they like. You don't suddenly become a complete road noob with no road sense just because you change vehicle.

I am lazy Very Happy it seems more convenient for everyone if I don't use them Thumbs Up there also so small I doubt anyone could see them in daytime anyway

Not at all, I assumed that he didn't have a full bike licence - everything else is irrelevant (hence my boat crack). I'm not saying that car drivers don't treat l-platers on 125s badly (although I have no personal experience - avoided that particular minefield) but until you have that bit of paper from the DVLA concentrate on making sure that you are squeaky clean. As evidenced by the OPs OP

Same here - just got into the habit of pressing cancel 2 or 3 times on a more-or-less regular basis.

As to the "sadly shaking the head" at other road users who do silly things, gave a copper in a popo car my best Paddington Bear hard stare for not signalling his intention at a mini roundabout the other day - pity I realised afterwards I had my dark visor on Laughing

I beg to differ. I have had students out on CBT that have held a car license for years and are complete potato out on the road and I have not been playing the instructor game for very long. I bet you every single one of the instructors, or ex instructors on this forum, and there are quite a few of us, have all experienced experienced car drivers become useless on the road with no road sense.

And yes, I did just use experienced back to back. Clever innit! Laughing
