A legendary engine makes it comeback! Furious, demanding and impressive as it ever was!

So I won't be getting one then...

I also read the same thing in this visor down article, that it may be based on the Honda NSR500, but no one knows for sure yet.

Lots of clues pointing to it being based on the NSR.

I wonder if "road legal" means this bike can pass environmental regulations like Euro3.

Yes it does, at least in CZE does = it's road legal all over the EU.

Anyway, 6 cylinders is too much to be fun and reasonable. I'd be happy with a V2 2 stroke. Honda had one NSR500 V2 in GP500. It must be fun to ride + it won't need re-build every week. Thumbs Up

EDIT: Jawa 350 (ancient 2 stroke) is EURO 3 friendly. Thumbs Up

The arse and pipes look like they came straight off an RS250.

In order to be TUV and Euro3 certified it'll undoubtedly be the of the strangled, gutless FI 2-smoke like the new(ish) RS125, which is absolute shit.

What does remain to be seen, however, is what the engine will do when all that planet-saving rubbish is torn out and someone throws a custom map ECU and kitten-murdering throttle bodies at it.

But once it's passed all the certifications, it's never tested again. So get them tuned to take advantage of the true power Wink

Agree with Timmeh though, to get a Euro3 pass, it's going to need a catalyst in each expansion chamber, which does bugger up how they work somewhat, and it will probably have an air injection port into the exhaust too.

I would expect it to ride as well as 4x Aprilia RS125 engines that were the later crap spluttery ones making 20-21bhp on a dyno with a tiny powerband.

Set up properly and tuned with no emission constraints then the Ronax could be a 120-130bhp motorbike, but that would be the limit IMO for a road going 500cc engine, unless your into re-builds in hours not mileage like race and MX engines.

Most RG and RD500's that top 110bhp, are big bore 550-570cc conversions, and the most powerful one was 146bhp r/w, so the Ronax wont come close to that IMO unless it's a track bike with lights?

hmm, can't quite afford 100k tbh.

If you were determined to have a 4-cyl stroker, you could build yourself a YZR or RGV 500 for about 10-15k, which would have 120bhp without even breaking a sweat.

Personally I'd have the YZR, because the RLD500 V4 will drop straight into the TZR250 3MA frame. Sort yourself some fancy front suspension and 6-pots and you've got yourself a trackday monster.
