Hi guys, I'm new here so this is my first post.
So the point is, I've heard of people traveling miles on a YBR, and I just wandered how possible this sort of thing is. I want to travel to Morocco with my family, which will be on and off road, so a YBR OR CG WONT DO. This also isn't a post to ask about which bike - I'm getting a Yam WR125 R and yes I know its 4000 pounds new, but with the new license laws when I'll get it will mean I'll have to ride a 125 till I'm 19 and I won't be able to get a new bike till I'm 20 so don't suggest I get a YBR second hand for 6 months then do direct access - it is NOT POSSIBLE ANYMORE. So I basically I want to know how far each day I could ride the yam safely and reliably as we need to cover a lot of miles and I don't want to be left behind by my parents on BMW GS's and I need the enduro ability to ride in the sand. Yes it is possible I know people who've taken them around the dawn to dusk. Don't hate on em. So any help and advice on touring, distances and stuff to take bearing in mind I'll be camping. Thanks

Several people have gone round the world on little YBR125's
So you shouldn't have too many issues on the WR.

Doesn't the WR have titanium valves and a bunch of other top quality engine components?

Tank range could be an issue, you might want to get an Acerbic upgrade if they do them.

300 miles a day on a 125 would be my upper limit, different strokes for different folks though.

Thanks a lot mate. I'll invest in one of those tanks, and yeah 300 miles seems fair.
Luggage wise - what is good on an offroad style bike- I mean would a standard tank bag fit or not? And what's good for saddle bags and panniers etc? Thanks

I think any magnetic tank bag would be out of the question as the WR'S have plastic tanks (I think...)

I would get a decent pair of soft panniers, and pack lightly.

Change oil every (check manual) miles and learn how to do basic repairs.
Take it greenlaning first...fall off it and try to learn why. Very Happy

Post lots of pics. Thumbs Up

Great, thanks I'll do that. I'm sure my step dad will teach me that sort of thing soon enough!
I'm planning to start riding enduro before I get the bike so I should be ready for some green laning in good time. And yeah I'll do a good go - pro video or something Wink

It took me ages to find a tank bag that fits my xt660r nicely without relying on magnets. I would recommend the 'Wolfman - Enduro tankbag' for pretty much any adventure style bike. It has a simple, effective and replaceable strap harness system to attach it to the bike.

I got it from a company called Winding Roads based in Derby for about £70 delivered. Its not exactly cheap but it feels like it will last forever. The main compartment zip is a much bigger gauge than it needs to be so will stand up to a lot of abuse. I wouldn't rely on it being waterproof, but from my (extensive) outdoor experience I just put anything that needs to stay dry inside roll top dry bags.

Good luck with the bike, it sounds like you've thought it through and chosen something that'll suit you well
