Hey all just wanted to plunder the vast knowledge of the forum and ask about my bike versus my brothers bike. He has SACHS XTC 125 2003. And i have HONDA CB125T 1981. Now first of all i wanted to know what people would give them out of 10, which one is a better bike all round and last which is really the fastest.
Please i do not want anyone telling me there 125's there slow stop racing them because i know. just tell me wich is best in your opinion.
Cheers Jim

Which ever one's reg plate can be made to spell the funniest word by adding coloured screws or little bits of electrical tape is the best one, that one gets 10/10. The other one gets -2/10, because it's double-sucky.

I'm not going to tell you to STOP racing them, because you obviously haven't, as you're asking which is the fastest.

Instead I'd suggest you START racing them, then you'll know for sure, rather than leaving the vagaries of two bikes likely owned by many people that haven't had much clue about owning bikes and so are in very 'questionable' states.

In my expert opinion the 1981-reg bike is worse because it will have carried more arse. Also, far more likely to have carried older arse (bad thing)

It's actually quite an interesting prospect of a race to be honest, the extra couple of ponies your cb125 makes might actually give the older bike an advantage, depends how many of them have escaped over the years.

You passed your big bike test then? 125T technically isn't learner legal, is it?

The XTC

There you go, just in my opinion. Haven't you learned a lot.

(I've never owned either, never clapped eyes on either of your two bikes you refer to, and don't really give a shit which is faster but you only asked for an opinion so I've given you a totally uninformed one anyway)

Technically not, but it doesn't have to lose a lot to dyno at 15bhp or less, especially at that age.

This is actually quite evenly matched, depending on how well the Honda has been looked after. It produces more power, but that will have deteriorated due to age. The Honda is a lot lighter, but the Sachs is more aerodynamic.

I can't give a star rating, having never owned one, ridden one or even met a bloke down the pub who owns one.
I'd say the Sachs will be faster though, as a guess.

That's the spirit.

I'd go with the Honda, but only if you brat-bob-chop-cafe it. Clip ons and reeeeeeally knobbly tyres, bruv.

I had a cb125t for a while in my youth and was quite impressed with it. Mine was a 1979/1980 model and easily screamed up to 70. It is however a bit lardy in the handling department. In a straight line it would probably win (possibly slower acceleration) but shown a bend, that ancient suspension would panic.

Do the race, but take a pillion on the back of both bikes. The CB125t easily pulled me and my lardy girlfriend back in the day. Power!

TLDR: comparison of a 30 year old and a 13 year old?

Obviously the 13 year old will have pert tits but you will end up in jail, on the other hand the 30 year old probably won't be a virgin and will be better at blow jobs. Plus you won't go to jail providing she says yes!

Hi

Very little in it weight wise. In theory the CB125T has more power, although in practice I wouldn't be so sure (let alone after 30 years). XTC has a fairing which towards their top speed will help.

On a normal road the CB125T does suffer from Hondas sick joke of a cable operated disk brake.

All the best

Keith

SACH's XTC vs CB125T... hmmm....

Well, neither would be my idea of a practical daily rider; Sach's is too rare and un-supported; the CB too old and too quirky.

Technically, with 6v electrics, AC direct lighting, and that wampy cable disc brake, the Honda is the less 'helpful'; But usefully well supported, with plenty of small Honda commonality, and much more assured parts supply and technical know-how on hand.

As for performance? Honda's the lighter and more powerful, it's got a short wheelbase and is pretty nimble, if the rear-shocks still have damping and the swing arms not too wobbly.

On paper it has the Sachs to rights...

But in the real world? The better bike is the one in best condition, with the better rider on board, who looks after the bike properly as well as rides it properly.

Quicker point to point? Will always be the one with the rider foolish enough to take bigger risks....

Erm which ever you can keep on the road the longest, both have limited parts availability now.
