How are the mighty fallen.

They still can. It's the long walk home when the suspension fails and you have only made it halfway round that's the problem.

No different from any other recall. Happen all the time across brands.

BMW are actually very good with their recalls, and any dealership will happily print out a vehicles history for you, even if you've just picked up a used of ebay.

It's different from the kind of recall that says 'Hi we've noticed a rather insignificant point of housekeeping wrong with your new bike and we'll replace it at the next service free of charge' type of recall.

This is a fairly serious 'Hi we've sold you a bike that's not fit for purpose and may kill you so, um,, don't use it, mmkay?' type recall

And? It's not like there has never been recalls over faulty brakes, throttles, fuel lines, fuel tanks etc.. They are all serious too.

I suppose the issue is you are buying in many peoples eyes the Rolls Royce of motorcycles. I wonder if their building/sourcing from China is going to bite them in the balls.

It hasn't done yet, they're still selling like gangbusters.

Whatever that means.

I agree Roger, but I suspect 95% of people still think they are only built in Germany.

There seems to be an inverse correlation between sales, price and reliability for some motors. Range Rover constantly comes bottom of reliability surveys but still shifts hundreds of thousands of units. Same seems to be applying to BMW bikes as well now.
