Hi,

I will be going on my first camping trip in a few weeks and the one thing that is still concerning me is what I will eat. I will be climbing Snowdon on the Sunday of my trip and then coming home Monday so I need to be able to eat high energy foods.
I'm not the best chef so just wondering if anyone has any advice? I have a single stove to play with.

Thanks.

By "climbing" do you mean ropes and stuff, or walking up?

Then you'll want a sandwich and a bag of crisps. There's a cafe at the summit if you're still hungry, saves carrying stuff.

I think thats a good idea.

Giving people sketchy details about what you are doing isnt going to end well when asking for input.

When I did hill walking used to use porridge or crushed up weetabix in a bag for breakfast. Hi carb but long lasting release. Mixed in some powdered milk and dried fruit. Then only needed to boil water for meal and tea (plus only need spoon and another bowl and/or your cup, to prepare/eat).

For evening meal used dehydrated food. Think pasta mug shots kind of stuff. Didn't really like, it just served a purpose. Again only needed boiling water. Plus it gave me something to look forward to (a decent meal, takeaway, fish and chips, etc) when I got home.

For eating during the day/walking, stockpiled Mars bars. Plus plenty of water.

This stuff should be ok after a day on the bike (and breakfast). I'm assuming picnic stuff sorted.

I thought BBQs and BBQ food was a great idea for a surprise birthday party on top of Snowdon.

Ready prepped steaks and boil in the bag peppercorn sauce.....mmmm

https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/sainsburys-price-comparison/Cooked_Prepared_Meat_And_Poultry/Sainsburys_Just_Cook_Beef_Steaks_with_Peppercorn_Sauce_2_per_pack_324g.html

Saying that, shared mess tin of porridge an a packet of raisins would raise some eyebrows too, less chance of party being gatecrashed.

Well, only you can decide what is adequate. I like a can of beans, a can of sweetcorn and a packet of Smash, stirred into an orangey pot of goo, mopped up with tortillas. Make the Smash in a ziploc bag, and empty the cans in, you don't need to wash up. Pot noodles with a can of hotdogs thrown in is quick and easy. Can of tuna with microwave (a.k.a. boil in the bag) rice. I also like fish and chips, which also saves on washing up.

I'd be more worried about what to have for breakfast - full English breakfast is possible on a mini trangia, but bloody fiddly. Better to pop in to a Maccy D's and have 3 double sausage and egg McMuthafukkaz.

Eat chips...Now Fook off!

or
Bake some flapjacks prior to going. Coat them in dark chocolate..keeps them together and believe it or not the darker the chocolate the better they withstand heat. Mr. Green
Pasta, rice. I take some sachets of spices if camping for a week or more.

Thanks for the replies.

Cansa, fair enough I suppose I was a bit vague.

There will be a few people climbing Snowdon from one side. My friend and his wife will coming up the other. She is sorting the picnic at the top.

Lots of food for thought so thanks.

Now any tips on roads in north wales that I need to visit?
