https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/products/motorcycles/mt/mt-125.aspx

To me, a fan of 125s it looks amazing and sounds amazing. Really nice looks, big bike size and still cheap to run......cant wait....roll on july so I can test ride one!!!.

im sure there will be many ppl on here as always saying why pay 4 grand on this and do ur full license bla bla bla like always but for ppl who like the economy of 125s or for people that dont need bigger than a 125 this looks great. Really cant wait to see one in person

Smile

Looks shit, sounds shit. Another 125 in a dress. TLDR, buy a YBR125 for cheapness.

Hahahha this forum gets so stupid sometimes. Uour comment just tottally summed up what I alreay knew (was hoping not tho) what was coming. All you 'big boy bikers' who for some reason hate to see hikes that look better than theres and can be rid by a 17 year old. Im 28 and still love 125s. Litterally if u dont like the way it looks fine....but every shitting time a reply to a 125 thread is buy a cg125 or a ybr 125. People dont want to coz they do look shit. And unless your into bikes then most people look at r125@ and this and thinkbits bigger and will still get girls pants wet. So just say if ya dont like the way it looks but dont tell ppl to buy something that looks shit coz if they buy this people will be more impressed with there 125 over uour 1000cc shit bucket

As far as 125's go I think It would of been this or the duke for me.

I bought a brand new cbr125 when I was 17, crashed it within 5 months, shit happens - certainly never regretted it. Buy what makes you happy, not others.

Beauty is in they eye of the beholder. Some people like fat, smelly girls, that's cool. Just doesn't mean I fancy them.

Good, it still looks shit.

Because they're the most economically viable, and the majority of people use a 125 as a stepping stone.

Already said that beauty is objective, remember.

maybe you like impressing 14 year old chavs with your R125, but that doesn't interest me. All the best to you if you do. Thumbs Up

Why do you keep going on about looks? Change the bloody record. Yes my 954 is a shit bucket, I dumped it on a track day earlier in the week, I fail to see how this has any relevance to the MT125 though. Confused

As long as you're happy with spending £4k on a bike you think looks good, but is turd-slow AND are happy to accept that a lot of people will see a new bike you've wasted four thousand pounds on and think "twat".

Even when I was 17, the thought that a 125 would make girls 'wet' made me think the girls had low standards (and in the case of R125s, now - like chavs) - no, ta, not for me.

Anyway - you should try RIDING some better bikes.
You might find you actually enjoy riding, rather than going around believing that any other people are genuinely impressed that you'd spend four thousand pounds on a shiny turd!

It may be blah blah, but thats because its true.
£500 on your test, £2,500 on a very tidy 2008 FZ6. 100bhp bike that'll easily do 50mpg.

The saving will get you nearly 770 ltrs of petrol. Or nearly 8,500 miles.

And the bonus, after 2 years, you could probably sell it for £2,200. You've only lost £300. Not the £1,300 you may have lost on the 125. So that's another 11,000 miles in fuel, or could have been.

I loved my 125 bikes too, ran around on CBT's for 7 years. In fact, am sort of regretting selling my last 125. But the most expensive one I bought was £1,500. After 3 years I lost £750 on it because it was Chinese.

Each to there own though, if you are happy, thats great.
Plus anything that encourages 17 year olds into bikes has mostly got to be a good thing.

I never spent more than £2500 on ANY of my bikes! Funnily enough, the most expensive bike I bought (or my dad bought) was my first; the XR125 a decade ago!

They ALL have 14.9bhp or something silly like that, which means that pound for pound if you want value and performance, get a decent USED 125. I'd agree with Chris on this. They're all generic commuters dressed up!

If you want a PROPER 125, get yourself a stroker and enjoy the fun.

Arrow Cagiva Planet/Raptor 125

Arrow Tuono 125

If I were to relive my youth on 125's, I'd definitely go 2-stroke streetbike. In terms of tech and kit, both those bikes I showed rock USD forks, brembos, and aluminium chassis.

Derestricted, they'd be putting out >25bhp

We're BIG BOY BIKERS for a very good reason; we've been down that path of 125's a long time ago. We'd rather NOT waste our money on getting something that you'd get left for dead with when you go out on group ride outs.

Take it from me, I felt sorry when my dad bought my XR125 brand new, when I had a shortlist of Aprilia RS125's, NSR's and Mitos to pick from. But he just wanted me to have something reliable. Once the finance was paid off, I flogged it off and got myself an ZXR250C!

Don't diss our litrebikes! We've been there, done that! NOBODY likes 125s, and when you get dropped in a group ride comprising of 250's and 400's, you'll soon realise why!

I make it a point now not to ride out with anybody packing less than 100bhp.

TBH I love 125's any light bike for that fact, I had a brief go on a 350 YPVS and that was hilarious.

I think that £4k is too rich for me but if somone wants the style of the MT's and the weight for commuting then the 125 is fine... Assuming you can take being overtaken by a FIAT Panda 1.1 on anything NSL.

For me it's going to be something small with a power valve next.

Filling up!

7 quid would get you 150 miles! Take an eternity to do that distance mind, but it'll do it!

Do not ask us for our thoughts if you cannot handle what our thoughts would be.

On a more serious note. I like the look of it until you get to the engine lump and you are looking at a cylinder head that is so small my lawnmower has a bigger one and I do not even own a lawn or mower! I couldnt help but think "where is the rest of the engine?"

Then you said this:
zeano182 wrote:
coz if they buy this people will be more impressed with there 125 over uour 1000cc shit bucket

And then, something which does not happen very often, I agreed completely with G. I laughed quite a lot.

I could imagine G's GSXR1000 sitting beside this and I would be more impressed with the thou. I could then see said thou leaving the 125 behind at the lights and being even more impressed.

Bottom line, it is way too much bike and not enough engine for the money and the value depreciation will be shocking. Remember, there are not many people around who chose to ride a 125. That market is dominated by the big white and red stickers on the front and back that says "L" in them and to be honest. L plates do not make panties wet in any language.
