I was in Yorkshire at the weekend driving about braaaarrpppppp meoooooowwwwww oh crap. But when I got closer I found this. It did make me slow down a bit but are they allowed to do this?

https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii302/ian505050/ian505050%203/20140614_155719_zps1a1167bb.jpg

I am thinking about advising the police that I noticed someone at the side of the road near 'The Old Stables' impersonating a police officer.

Oh, soon after we stopped for the photo I heard some dogs barking and the guy at the farm came running out not looking to pleased that we were posing with his scarecrow. Cool Laughing

Attach the head and torso to the front of your bike like a gruesome figurehead.

Then set their hay barn on fire.

But yes that is quite dangerous as it could cause you to slam on the brakes and crash. But the police do that anyway so...why don't we just keep enjoying our "freedom" and keep our mouths shut? Our betters know what's good for us....

Before my Mod1 practice the other week a guy got told off as he wanted to speed gun cars on the road. He was wearing a yellow hi viz, local bobby that was walking along; said that he could be charged for causing an accident by imitating a police officer.

Not sure about the legality of the actual situation.

Find out who put it there and report them to the council for fly-tipping, and let the police know of course.

They're a pretty common sight on roadworks here in Malaysia. This fella even has a little roof over his head!

https://mob.com.my/getattachment/2f0299bc-8c6e-4839-8c82-a6a94dcb2c31/Sheltered-from-the-elements

Google tells me they seem to like em in China too:

https://www.shandinglu.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1472&g2_serialNumber=1

Seeing them does make you think you've taken a wrong turn and driven into uncanny valley.

Dressing one up as a copper might be going too far though Laughing

It's clearly put there to slow folk Down around the stables, I think it's a great idea. We all have to share the road and being a car, bike and horse rider I see it from all angles. Bikes are usually good around horses as they too know how vulnerable you feel without a cage. Car drivers who have never ridden a bike or horse are a nightmare.

In fact the women called Sheila or Gail who work for DWP and Finnish at 4:45 are the worst because they don't even see other traffic as they are still in office gossip mode on their way home!.

Easiest thing to do with horses is pass them with a steady speed and not wringing it's neck n first, don't come up close behind, set your road position early and oncoming traffic can see your intention. The horse also won't see you as a threat.

If you do report it I think they would just laugh and it would be obvious you were worried about your behaviour

Go back and put his trousers at half mast, posing his hands around a strapon. Wonder how many complaints of a masturbating policeman the fuzz will put up with? Smile

A guy our way has a fake Gatso in his garden, peering over his fence. Despite being all kinds of unconvincing it still pings just about every brand of sat nav.

We done a school report on traffic calming when I was at school, part of it involved using a speed gun and recording the speed of traffic, nothing illegal in it at all.

Why anyone would slam brakes on I dont know, ride to the limits (within reason) and it's not an issue. This kinda thing will be in little villages which I can understand tbh.

No, it's shite. Even when I'm not trying to speed, but travelling at a legal and safe speed, if I see a camera, cop or whatever, my eyes are more on the speedo than the road.

PCSO's are guilty of impersonating a police officer but they don't get arrested. Rolling Eyes

Since 2008 £53,940 has been spent on 782 cardboard cops. Gwent police have bought 52 of them at a cost of £255 each.

Dafaq?? Shocked Laughing

What a waste of money that could have been spent of actuall officers. All i ever see in Gwent anyway is the PCSO's.

On the topic of cardboard police Laughing reminds me I forgot to post this from a few weeks back. It was in a village [voted best village in Dorset x-years running or some nonsense] so it may well of been the locals trying to perfect their village by stopping those naughty speeders.

But this got me off guard the first time I saw it, very realistic from a distance Shocked Interestingly on my next two visits past it, the first occasion it had been 'edited' with marker pens. The second time - it was gone Laughing

I dont know why you are all panicking about riding towards police and cameras - we dont have number plates on the front. Rolling Eyes

P.S - Instead of grabbing a handful of brake, put your hand over your plate as you ride past. Thumbs Up

Disregard the constabulary - even fake constabulary.

This is true. I looked at the Police Act 1996, Section 90 (2) (sad, I know). Mentions constable and special constable, plus amendments to include the Nuclear Police, Transport Police and National Police Support Agency, but not PCSO.

Unless of course someone can point me to a bit I missed Thumbs Up
