So I've heard that they k5 GSXR1000 clutch can suffer from having dry plates and cause a 'grabby' clutch that makes a loud unpleasant sound. Now I haven't done any aggressive starts yet so no idea if my bike suffers, but anyone here have that trouble. I've seen a few mods one including drilling holes in the basket to let more oil in, another using a concave washer from the GSXR750. anyone done one of these? It looks reasonably easy so if it helps I'll get the bits when I pop to suzuki to get the front brake mc replaced so I can do them on my next oil change.

Another note on the clutch is that the biting point is very far out. Is there an adjuster engine side of the cable? The free play adjuster on the lever side is all the way in and is just slightly too far out for my teeny tiny girl hands. Embarassed

You can adjust it on the engine side, but might just need more manly hands Wink It might not work as expected if you adjust the engine side. Perhaps some shorty/adjustable levers.

The K5/K6 I rode for ~6 months was fine, nothing wrong with reasonably fast starts but it was only on about 11k.

Thanks Paddy, didn't want to waste my time possibly taking bits of fairing off and clutch cover just to see if it was adjustable. It's not a massive problem as I can still reach the levers. The biting point just seems to sit somehwere where my dexterity suffers. I would like to get it in the same position as the biting point as on the thundercat so that switching between bikes is a bit easier.

For 30 odd quid a set of fake pazzo levers might be worth a try? Might make it that bit more comfortable.

Never had the dry/grabby problem with mine. It was draggy, as if it wasn't fully disengaging - I even had the guys at my local dealer take a look when it was in for the frame recall and they couldn't find anything wrong but agreed it felt odd. It has been fine since I changed the plates and springs.

You have them on the SV sitting outside. Wasn't really sure about them. They felt good for a while, but the quality was poor. They used to be black and they are now silver.

You should give the GSXR a go. See if you can feel this dodgy clutch. You're a lot more aggressive than me

Laughing More aggressive! That'd be why the divvy has been down the road twice now. Not sure I can afford to take the gixxer for a spin with my record.

Could stump up for the real deal if you're that worried. About 5 times the price for the proper ASV ones though!

If the clutch lever is the same as a GSXR750 K1 model I can give you my shorty lever as a test. I rode with it on the GSXR750 and only swapped as I changed the entire perch.
