er5 making whistling noise

ive just bought an er5 and had it restricted to 33bhp. it has just started making a strange whistling noise which appears to be coming from the carb area. is there any link? ive checked engine oil.

Are you sure its not the exhaust????

This is a feature! if you have the engine running and just place your finger in the exhaust gas flow as it comes out of the exhaust you can vary/stop it.

It is apparently to do with the baffles in the exhaust, and most of them do it......Andy's certainly does.

If it really is from the carb area, I'd say it sounds like the carb hasn't gone into the manifold rubber properly or the carb into the airbox rubber, this is likely to cause lean running on one cylinder, and could be a problem in the long term.

In short....exhaust no problem, but if it is coming from carb/s get it back and get it checked by the dealer who restricted it.

sorted it mate. turns out it was in the carb area. one of the rubber washers restricting it was bent over making an air gap. took it back to dealers and it took 10mins to sort
