Hello again,
I know it's an age old argument whether car oil is safe to use in bikes--I'll just say I've been doing it without trouble in my low power Kymco Pulsar 125. One thing I noticed is that the 15W40 grade specified for the Pulsar 125 is somewhat less common than 10W40. I was wondering if 10W40 is acceptable for use in my bike (as I think low power machines aren't so sensitive to exact oil grade?). Incidentally 15W40 for cars seems to be more often rated for diesel which might be less suitable (I imagine it's meant for higher temperatures).

Hi

I tend to take the view that the important number is the normal number, with the winter / cold number being better the lower it is (within reason) for it to flow when cold.

That said, 15W40 should be easy enough to get.

All the best

Keith

15W40 isn't hard to find. In fact, it's what I picked up from Lidl last time I was looking for 10W40. I consider them essentially interchangeable.
