Hi all

I currently have a multi bike policy with Wicked Quotes (Ramasis). Their service is excellent and the price is good too. Only problem I have is that im constantly calling them to switch bikes on and off the policy, as I do change mine quite frequently.

I currently have 4 bikes (f800, vn800, Xj600 diesel, CBR1000) and wonder if there is a policy that I can get that will just cover me for all bikes, without having to define them? Something like a trade policy but not for trade?

Does it exist?

Get a policy in the cheapest bikes that covers you on other bikes without requiring the bikes to have insurance policy's on them, put bikes in mates names.

Shhh!

I did think of doing that, but dont the bikes have to have their own policy for taxing etc?

Normally, when I have seen drive/ride other bikes clause, it states that the vehicle has to have its own policy as well. Have read through my policy, but it doesnt say.

May give them a call tomorrow.

Hi

This is what the old rider policies allowed you to do. Don't think anyone does them anymore (not sure that they would even be workable with the current rules on insurance databases and the like).

All the best

Keith

Thats a point, not sure what it would be like with the new Continuous insurance law (bullshit!)

I can still specify ride other bikes on my policy.

Hi

You should be able to get a policy that covers multiple bikes at once (specified).

All the best

Keith

Just did a quote with them, £314, for a 24 year old rider, with 4 yrs NCB (I will have at the end of my current policy).

Not bad!

Their site is a bit dodgy, or the sytem that generates the quotes is.

3 quotes, exactly the same details, 15 minutes apart, £314, £375, £540.....?

I wonder if some of the underwriters take longer to come back, with quick quotes in succesion.

ebike aren't the cheapest, but they are easy to work with.

However, you may find a policy where insurance isn't a "requirement" of the other bike if your policy allows ride other bikes. Coming quite hard to come by these days, usually Equity Red Star are the underwriters through people like Wicked Quotes.

Simple thing to do is re-register the bikes to someone at the same address in a Polish name.

Yeah, Ill see what I get charged by Wicked quotes in 3 months when the CBR1000F is back up and running. I have probably racked up 150 pounds in fees just from changing my policy so much.

If you have a CBR600F then add an R1, of course. It still takes groups into consideration, but I changed between the TL1000S, CBR600RR and Bandit 400 etc for £0 charge.

I've got a (maximum) five on my carol nash multi, and holy shit god help the person who wants to take one off and add another. Write your morning off, grab a bacon sandwich, put Channel 4 racing on with the sound down, grab a copy of War and Peace and settle in for the long haul. Have your shaver to hand, and watch through the window as the seasons reel by as though you're sitting on the throne of HG Wells's time machine. Make sure you've purchased a zimmer frame because that's how old you'll be when you finally get off the phone.

Another vote for eBike if you get a decent quote from them.

There's no admin charge for making changes (because you're doing it), and they apply sensible loadings for declared modifications, i.e. pennies or pounds, rather than tripling the price for declaring a tank pad.

Anecdotally though, they can be a real sod to deal with in the event of a claim.

Oh, and they will want to see copies of your driving license. Decent quality photos are fine, you just email them in.

Which is fine so long as you are aware that you only have 3rd party cover on the bikes....

Could also mean that your friends also have to declare a claim, should you have to claim for anything.... Never mind if the Ins co's find out you are on the fiddle. All parties will end up having to declare this going forward. With the resulting increased costs.

How so? I'm borrowing G's van currently and if I have a ding in that, it will not and cannot affect him 1 iota. He was not there.

Thanks all, I will give ebike a go if I can get a good price from them. I do like the idea of managing it online (like I do with my aviva policy)
