If that isn't a sign something is very wrong I'll be fucked if I know what is.

Are you sure you don't have a severe brain injury? If you can't work out for yourself that it is fucked you are beyond help.

I stand by what I said. It's fucked.

Yep stupid.

Buy a season ticket for a bus company as you seem incapable of maintaining a motorbike. That or fix it properly.

New output shaft or a good used engine.

You're worried about being left with no bike?

You're not planning FAR enough ahead.

Rethink your entire approach to bikes, and biking. Fuck the sprocket & shaft, its a major bodge and a minor concern in the greater scheme of things.

Did you pass your A1 Mod 2 today?

Lots of hills in Yorkshire...your poor back brake and tyre. Smile Cool skids eh.

There's planning ahead which is to be applauded, but then there are times when you really really want a front brake. Laughing Laughing

For the price a couple of tanks of fuel you could've had one by now.

Chemical metal will not fix that sprocket. Thumbs Up

I barely understand that making the wheels go clockwise moves a bike forward but even I know that's fucked.

You have done very well to live this long.

Do people have to remind you to breathe sometimes ?

You don't value your life ? Probably one of the most ridiculous lines on bcf of recent times, and that's saying a lot

I couldn't shit a new shaft out and £400 for parts and labour when it fucked up in the pissing rain on my way to work at six in the morning could I? I did what anyone else would have done.

I have no idea what you have done at 6am in the morning. If I had got up to find my bike unsafe to ride, whether I had to get to work or not, I wouldn't have ridden it; as would most people; they'd take the car; get a lift or find a bus stop. Riding with no brakes is stupid, dangerouse and illegal. I know some pretty stupid people; but not many of them would be THAT stupid, nor think that being late for work was a reasonable excuse, let alone heading out on a joy-ride, just 'cos the soccer was on as you boasted about!

Like I said, re-evaluate your approach to bikes and biking.

MAINTENANCE everything starts with it.

If you like bikes, and dont want to be without it; you dont abuse or neglect or bodge it. You look after it. And if its not 'safe' to ride; you DONT RIDE, either risking making the fault worse through use, or through smashing the fucker up having an accident because of it. And if you cant afford to fix something; you don't 'bodge' it, as bodges tend to cost more in the long run, one way or another, and juts make the bike worse, not better.

So, bodged sprocket has broken... like I said, major bodge of minor concern.

Concern should be why you even contemplating re-bodging it?

You KNOW its fucked; BUT you dont want to fix it properly; you want to carry on bodging and riding.... neglecting and abusing your bike, NOT 'maintaining' it.

A fast route to an increasingly bodged, ever worse condition motorcycle ever less 'nice' to own and ride, of worsening performance, and increasing cost.... Why? Because you AREN'T planning ahead, you JUST want to RIDE, here and now, and aren't going to let common sense or sound financial reasoning stand in your way.

Like I said; you need to re-evaluate your attitude.. a bit of advice I don't believe I am the only one offering you.

Sprocket? Bite the bullet. Live without the bike for a bit. Absence makes the heart go honda.

Take it off the road; take the engine out, and as Fisty suggests, either tear it down and fit a new shaft; or try getting the old shaft salvaged by a machine shop, who MAY be able to re-build it and re-cut it to take new retainers; or get a second hand shaft, OR get a take-out engine to swap into its place. Or if you don't have the where with-all to save pennies DIY, write the fucker off now, and put it into a bike that ISN'T knackered.
