You can get kevlar jeans for £40 on Amazon or eBay, less if you're lucky. Pretty much all I wear now. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

While you might not believe we get good weather here, sometimes we do
It is worth getting a lighter set of bike clothing.
Even if they don't get worn often each year, it'll mean they'll last for years
I have several pairs of Kevlar trousers that I wear, I just change what I wear under them.
Felt practically naked with no base layer on, but a cool breeze blowing up the flue pipe was most welcome
As for your jacket, it's practically a coat! |

I have to dry my textiles out every time I wear them lately, not fun, or even pleasant smelling.
I bought a a pair of shorts the other day and toyed with the idea of wearing them on the bike but, decided against this for obvious reasons.
Riding down Prescot Road (A57) and it's just traffic lights after traffic lights every few yards, so you just end up cooking constantly. So much so, I've resorted to taking the bus a couple of times, it's that bad.
Start sweating before I've turned the engine on lately. |

Are your gloves over the top of you sleeves?
Try putting your gloves on, then your jacket, so sleeve is over the glove.
I'm not a slave to ATG-ATT, I dress to ride, not for disaster; and I actually dont like gloves; but breeze up my sleeve fills back of my jacket very nicely, keeping my kidneys cool, where other wise tends to get a bit sticky.
Could be worth a try, before buying even more gear. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Doesn't entirely fix the problem - but i've finally started using base layers recently after years of severe sweating, having been told by various people say they make a huge difference. They really have, especially in textiles. Used to be absolutely dripping wet in this sort of weather after even short rides, now the gears just... moist
Make sure you get the moisture wicking base layers NOT the thermal sort though, or you may well die I find my one piece leathers are better than textiles in summer for riding, although they are perforated with holes around the chest which helps a lot. Just a PITA to wear once you're off the bike. |

I know its not answering the bottom half question as my RST trousers are like a heat trap too even with the lining removed.
However the top half opens up all over the shop. RST Raptor 2 has air vents either side of the chest, both forearms and from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. Probably a bit overkill as you start looking like the michelin man over 50mph on a naked bike.
The only down side is that the chest vents are velcro and only pin back with a pop button so could be an issue when the velcro start giving up.
I just wear my kevlar aldi special jeans at the moment as its the only thing that get airflow going.

Remember the 80s? Pair of Adidas Kick trainers. Lightweight Campri jacket. Pair of jeans. Lightweight summer gloves. That's pretty much what I still wear, no overheating issues here
Yes, I might come off. But I might also win the lottery or die in my sleep tonight ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |
