3 Day Scotland trip

I've got a couple of extra days off work coming up, so I'm thinking of heading to Scotland on Sunday Monday and Tuesday this week/next week.

I'm starting from Newcastle, and riding the Royal Enfield.

I'm going to aim for about 300 - 350 miles per day, and stopping at Youth Hostels on Sunday and Monday night. Don't fancy camping at during midge season

Does anyone have any hints or tips, I'm thinking maybe Broadford (Skye) on the first night, and perhaps Oban on the second?

Newcastle to Broadford will be a good 350 ish miles. Anything north or Perth or Stirling (depends on route) is far slower roads and you on an Enfield. I think you will toil to get there at a decent time to enjoy the place. Saying that, you could leave Newcastle at silly O'clock in the morning to miss the shitty traffic on the A1

Yeah A696 - A68 was always my chosen road for going south when I was in Edinburgh. Now I am further east its not worth the bother driving over so I have to suck it up on the A1.

From Broadford leave Skye over the bridge, turn left to Lochcarron and over the pass (Beleach Na Ba) to Applecross. Then head up the Wester Ross to Kinlochewe. From here you can carry on upto Ullapool or turn south and head for Oban for your last night.

its worth the trip

im going up there again on 16th august this year, gonna do white water rafting, do the applecross pass and have a munch at the pub at the end and then do isle of sky.
mind you my journeys a bit further as im coming up from london so horrid motorway until i get to erskine bridge near glasgow, then from there the scenery get more to my taste

i wanted to try john o groats but its a 4hr journey just to get there from where im staying

my girl is taking her car shes like lets just go in the car im like i came to ride around scotland not sit in a cage it just wouldnt be the same in a car

Avoid the motorway.
Either head across to Dumfries then up the A76 and pickup the A702 at Carronbridge over the Dalveen Pass to Abbington, from here use the B7078 until you reach Happendon.
Or just follow the B7078 from Carlisle - it goes through small villages but is usually empty either side, and you can pretty much match the motorway pace all the way.
This cuts out a fair chunk of the M74 which is quiet but windy.

I'll always say St Mary's Loch

There is the Dalveen pass from Thornhill to Moffat, then onto the Beeftub coming back out of Moffat towards Biggar

St Mary's Loch is going out of the north east side of Moffat heading towards Selkirk, and there is a biker friendly cafe just between the loch it's self and the one before it.
