Because I get nods returned off other bikers now that I am not on a scooter. When riding my old scooters probably 1 in 20 bikers nodded, now on my YBR 9 in 10 nod.

I feel a proper part of the biker community now, does that make me a saddo? Maybe but I don't care.

Give it a few weeks and the nodding will die off, not that it bothers me at all. You will get about 3/10.

You'll notice harley riders won't nod. Ive taken to waving enthusiastically in a very camp way. I figure it's more their language.

I usually greet fellow riders by standing up on the pegs and doing several rapid pelvic thrusts in quick succession. It's a great way to burn carbs too! Thumbs Up

Is it still okay to do this even though I now have a fuel injected bike?

There's one on my commute, he rides a street triple, never nods. He's dead to me.

And don't think changing your crash helmet and then starting to nod is going to work either... dead to me, dead.

There's a guy I pass daily on a CB500, and have done for a couple of years now. I nod every time, but not a single nod back, the bastard. Mebbe he's just the type that doesn't nod to Alhambras.

The nod thing's fine by me, do it myself most of the time, except if I'm negotiating a busy junction or something.

However, the leg waggle...what the hell is that about? I refuse to take part in such shenanigans. Folded arms

Dunno about a waggle, but it's easier to stick your leg out when passing a large group of bikes coming the other way, than spend a minute doing Churchill* impressions.

* The nodding insurance dog, not the WW2 prime minister. Nor the tank. And not the china company, either.

I've had this happen a couple of times from foreign folks. Even had some other biker salute me once. Laughing

This nodding malarky is dangerous....especially when going round a bend....waiting to see if they reply.....then looking back.....rejection....hurts so much......nearly as much as the barrier your heading towards!!! Sad

Heh, nods for nods sake are alright but it's the ones in the pissing rain, 5am commute in the dead of winter that are actually meaningful. Those are the 'eyup fella, guess we're both fucking mentlists then eh?' nods that are a genuine mark of mutual respect.

And no, you won't get nods from Harley riders. Or 'adventure bikers', you know the ones on their all too shiny BMW with matching official Bimmer clothing and luggage that's never had more than a Marks & Spencer sandwich and a flask of tea in it.

This isn't true.. or maybe it is and the one gs I see on my commute is an exception.. that guy does a full on lunge towards you 'nod' - I'm going to catch it on video one day. It is epic.

Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned.

Now, was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei? Or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown..

What is known were the consequences..

A f-ing Harley rider did a w-nker sign at me, a f-ing Harley rider on a brand new f-ing Bad Boy Big Bob Dark Low something with a F-ing brand new Harley jacket, Brand new lid and the F-ing ink still wet on his pass certificate did a w-nker sign at me.

He had just given Harley £15k or whatever in the hope owning a Bad Boy Big Bob Dark Low might mean he had an orgasm with someone else in the room did a w-nker sign at me.

Sorry but this has been upsetting me for a week now.
