Hi All,

I am thinking of doing a knee down course so that I can feel more comfortable when cornering .

looking around the cost is around £230 per day . I am looking for a course for a course in london.

please let me know if you know of any good school .

also does knee down really help with turning and feeling comfortable when turning?

ok, I rather not pay that amount but when saw it I thought it is a lot better than trying to lean myself and may end up on low slide.

They have a third wheel in the middle which will help getting used to the feeling and instructor also helping you so basically getting more confident.

am i looking at it the wrong way?

Just practice. Go out for rides, get the feel for corning in general. It will come.

Also, having a third wheel in the middle? Sounds counter-productive to me. You wouldn't have that in any real life situations.

TL:DR - Practice. Thumbs Up .

You and stranger12 need to meet each other, you both post oddly similar posts.

Just go get some confidence, do a track day or something? That is where I am at now, I fancy hurling myself round a track to see what the SV can do. Might as well, its only a bike.

Forget about knee down and learn more about body positioning and shifting your weight etc......that's the key to better cornering and feeling more comfortable.

Your knee is only a gauge to see how far you're leaning. If you're not leaning far enough to use it then you're not cornering either fast enough to warrant it or you just don't need it.

In the former case practise makes perfect and I would suggest that rather then a "knee down school" you do a track day with an instructor and listen to what he has to say about your positioning/skill. You'll only get better with time/practise. Theres no third wheel on the bike when you're hurtling around a corner at 9̶0̶M̶P̶H̶ 60MPH.

If it's the latter and you're already getting low enough without your knee down then theres no problem. The only reason anybody ever really wants to get their knee down on the road is so they can show their scuffed sliders to their mates to seek their approval. If this is what you're after, just go around the same roundabout 20 times until you scrape it.

You can tell BCF has changed and the new folks are ... different.

Back then we would go ride and learn to do it on the open road.

Or we'd do a round about bash, I haven't done of of those in years, A675 on the way back there were 3 nice round abouts in a row, we'd go round them 2-3 times scratching them.

Bendy had a whole load of photos and a video of a roundabout bash..

If it's just confidence you want to lean more, come down to kent and come for a ride with me around the country roads and the huge deserted industrial roads. I've shown many people how to get their knee down. Save the 200 quid you save and use it on a couple of trackdays.

Two hundred and thirty fucking pounds? Do they give you a blowjob too? There are two more sensible and cheaper options:

1. YouTube videos + roundabout surfing. There is even an MCN video. Cost: £0.

2. Trackday. Go on a nice, well surfaced track and follow an instructor, ask their advice, and have a whole load more fun than just trying to get your knee down. The KD will happen naturally. Cost: £100-150

What is your motivation for trying to get your knee down? Think it's going to make you faster? If you're getting your knee down on the road on much more than your favourite corners and roundabouts, that's probably not a good idea. Want scuffed sliders? Roundabout. Want some cool pictures and to learn how to ride a lot faster? Trackday.

I want to get more comfortable and confident cornering, was thinking of doing a Bikesafe course - might be worth the OP looking into doing this?

1StopInstruction over near Ilford run knee down course. Not done it, but they were very good when I did my CBT+DAS with them. Probably worth a bell.

Never felt the need to stick my knee out yet, probably because I have no sliders.
