Not sure if Mr C can shed any light on this bike. It was at the Autosport Show today (and is there all weekend as far as I am aware).

The writing underneath it states that it is the first ever stock engined ZX12R to crack 200mph, and was timed at Elvington.

There were quite a few bikes there actually, took a couple of pictures. There will be pictures of 'other things' going up in the off topic sections too! Wink

no stock busa has done 187 out of the crate

Simon's bike is in exactly the same state of tune as mine

the motor is unopened (hence stock motor) but it has a race pipe, filter, powercommander and custom fuel map

that's it

(and he is a skinny shit compared to me although he is taller I think)

Is this the same day when there was a huge hurricane tailwind ?
Or did you just forget to mention that ?

Redbaron Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

There has only been one 12 in the UK to do bang on 200mph, and that was with the a hurricane behind it, Mr C forgot to mention how many Haybusa's have gone over 200mph in similar state of prep.

Please please don't believe all you read in the mags.

Trust me on this, I have ridden and raced with some of the fastest guys in the UK, and no one has ever got a stock Busa past 188mph
(although I hit 188 with just a box mod)

To be anywhere near 200 mph the 12 or the Busa needs a full system on, a modded airbox, a custom map, a talented rider and lots and lots of tailwind.

Although because of the far superior aero's of the Busa, it's not as reliant on the tailwind as the 12.

Results prove this.

didnt the top manufacturers all agree that they wouldnt make their bikes go faster than 186 mph?? thats why in the mags now all the top speeds read 186mph from most of the proper fast bikes. That was what the big thing about the busa was when it came out wasnt it??

That's right but there was a couple of years when bikes got bonkers and later they brought in the restriction. 2002 bikes are some of the fastest ever built and probably always will be.

That 186 restriction is stupidly easy to remove anyway.
I've found that most big bikes go faster than what is quoted as book speed.

Give it a few years and no doubt they will give up on the restriction. Just like the voluntary 125hp limit they used to have for the UK.

All the best

Lots of rumours going round about the new Blackbird V5. Will they Won't they. Apparently the motor is already built and makes 205 BHP but was detuned to 190BHP and will be released in South Africa Only for 2006. As I say rumours.

Bitter, Moi Rolling Eyes

No, just like to put the record straight, as there may be some young and Gullable here who may actualy believe that a ZX12 is as fast as the mighty Hayabusa.
You fail to mention that class 2 Busas regulary go over 200mph, and indeed you know them. (class 2 meaning un opened motor)
The fact that Simon managed it, and you just missed it on a day with the biggest tailwind I care to remember at Elvington, does not make the ZX12 as fast as the Hayabusa in the same class.
Indeed, there were no other class 2 Busas running that day, otherwise you know and I do that you and Simon would have been pushed down the pecking order to 4th and 5th.
