Anyone else have this problem?

I spent around 6 hours in the saddle this weekend and the sore knees that came with it are bloody irritating – riding a sports bike is uncomfortable as it is! I do remember having this problem with my first 1 piece, but it has been a while, and I’m sure it was not this bad.

Had this with mine but I assumed it was due to it being a cheap, secondhand one piece

If the leather has stiffened and isn't bending or stretching as it used to that might have caused a change.

Or you have got bigger, making the suit tighter.

Or your knee armour has age hardened and doesn't flex as it used to.

My most current leathers hurt after any distance as I am quite well built, I swapped out the hard and thick armour for thin, squishy and better forcefield net armour and it's sorted my comfort issues.

D30 even more flexible and softer so but not as good.

Is your kit the problem? Surely it's just the bike?

I had a Honda Hornet as a loan bike last week and my knees were killing me after 30 miles because of the ergonomics of the bike.

Getting back onto my NC was like settling into a warm bath Razz

Might be a sign your age is catching up on you Wink

Try doing a squat before you get on the bike. Or try pulling the leathers down a bit this may release the pressure on your knees.

It works for me.

Thanks the info, I have been searching for 3rd party armour but failed to find anything, the Forcefield armour looks just the job Thumbs Up

Is it a pain in the actual joint or just irritation of the skin?

I've been having pains with my rst leather trousers recently and have put it down simply to the hair on my knees being pulled as the knee amour shift up and down slightly with putting feet down at lights and walking around etc.

Although i'm not quite prepared to shave my knees to test my theorem just yet Laughing

Rst armor is horrible, hard and too curvrved for a knee, and only the small coverage template. Forcefield net is a tight fit in the pockets but way more comfortable and protects a larger area against bigger impacts.

Personally I don't have any issues with the knees [this is using RST 1 pieces too]. Walking in it can be a pain, but on the bike i've never had knee problems. I tend to find its the lower and upper back that play up if anything does, particularly with the back protector.

Besides the temperature benefits in summer/winter; base/thermal layers make them a lot more comfortable I find - seems to help moving in them a bit smoother rather than your skin getting all clammy and dragging against the inner-mesh of the leathers whenever you need to shuffle around on the bike.

If you don't need them generally i'd try taking the knee sliders off too, they stiffen up the knee area above on one of my 1-pieces a bit.

Do your leathers have a lining in them?
Had the same problem with some leather trousers, I cut the lining out from just above the knee, problem solved!

Apparently wearing ladies' tights under them helps.
I'm not planning on moving to a one-piece...
