Motorcycle hit my car...

Hey,

This morning whilst driving to work I had some lovely girl decide she wants to low side her L plate badged YBR car seeking missile whilst overtaking a queue of traffic, she slid right into my front bumper. Now I'm not overly fussed, the plastic has popped in a little and there are some scratches but there are loads on the bumper anyway and I was going to replace after summer.

She was adamant that I give her my insurance details, despite me saying its perfectly fine, its a workhorse car and scratches do not bother me, but she was adamant to the point of rude. I recorded the rest of the convo disguising it as "taking photos" so I could record the audio etc with her admitting on the camera that she slid into my car when she braked too hard. Clear cut IMO.

However I do not want to go through insurance, she has obviously been told to get details when she has an accident and I did explain time and time again that it will cost her more over the next few years and it really isn't worth it as I don't give a damn about the bumper. She kept on so I gave my details, got her details and said don't worry about insurance etc, its perfectly fine. She picked up the bike and off she went.

Is it even worth me notifying the insurers, I really can't be arsed with another claim on my record and there is negligible damage. Aware she could say I pulled into her but with 2 witnesses actually stopping and giving me their details I doubt she will get anywhere..

Hope she's okay though. I'd inform the insurance that you are not raising a claim, but simply informing them of the incident but do not wish to push it any further at this point. Then you're covering your own arse for now.

I think she was right. Too many tales of people not getting details after a prang because it's going to be done without going through insurance then getting a tug later for failing to report.

What if you don't tell your insurance company but she does? They'll want to know why you never mentioned it. You did the right thing by recording and taking pictures too.

I assumed the 'lovely girl' comment was sarcastic.
By the sounds of it, I'm sure she's fine.
Should have demanded a blowy in return for no insurance claims.

For future reference, name and address only, unless someone got spazzed. And arguably not even then: the "accident occurred" entirely due to her actions, not the "presence" of your car.

Sounds fairly mental, I really don't know how forgetful I'd get.
