My MX boots have to go.

They are Wulfsport boots. I have worn them almost every time I have gone out on the bike. I have had them for about 2 years now. I just cant get used to braking and changing gear, there has been no breaking in and I just don't feel comfy wearing them.

I like them for their protection, I have had my leg ran over on two separate occasions by other riders, trapped mine in the chain. I've smashed my legs off rocks, off stumps. I regularly threaten to rip the foot off the end of my leg when I stick the boot out round corners and have to stand the bike up again with it.

I want a boot that will offer similar protection whilst providing good feel. I would like a boot that is the ultimate cross between road boot and off-road boot. Something with a touch of flex in the sole and smaller toe box would be a good start.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Buy a second hand pair that someone else has done the hard work for you or get them really wet a few times whilst wearing them.

Tried getting them wet. There's a ford crossing I do quite often. I got caught out in the rain on the way home from work yesterday in them. Still damp when I put them on this morning.

In the end, the protection from a lot of the dangers off road comes from the very fact they are so stiff - you will be sacrificing that if you go for more flexibility.
You could see if trials boots are any better, but I doubt it - mostly you could just try getting some 'MTFU'? Wink

Wulfsports are shit. Try something like Sidi Couriers.

Icon Field Armor? Actually, probably not, I just re-read your post, they wouldn't offer enough protection for your shins.

Yeah, those A-stars are nice but pricey. I thought it may just be the fact that wulfsport is generally a bit naff. My mate used to commute in A-star tech 3's, while I commuted in my boots, he didn't know what I was talking about with the lack of feel, but he's been riding a crosser since he was 5/6, never worn anything else on the bikes.

I'm going to batter these to death a bit more, to try to get some more moneys worth from them. then start having a look for new boots, around the £200 mark I would like to stay.
