Hopefully piking up my first big bike, sv650 this weekend, and have the following week off work. Unfortunately my best mate and his gixxer are now otherwise engaged, since he's swanning off to Tunisia with his bird that week.

So I'm looking for places to go/ things to do on the bike, and figured the Motorcycle museum in Solihull wouldn't be a bad shout one day. A nice ride there, and a nose around for a few hours and a nice ride home. Will be a good chance for me cut my teeth on the sv, and hopefully will see some cool stuff too.

Never been before, so what's it like? Worth a day out? Anything in particular definitely worthwhile looking at?

Cheers

It's all British stuff but some interesting things to see and will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. Wasn't a great ride for me as it's all motorway.

The very old stuff is cool as is the race machinery. The rest of it should be on the road not in a museum.

Tell that to the more money than sense two stroke collectors hoarding RG500's, RD500's and all the tasty 250cc GP replicas!

Unless you want an odd ball/iron curtain stroker (MZ/Jawa/CZ etc), or an overweight one of the few less than highly regarded of 70's Jap strokers, or a late 90's>2006 plasticy 125 or twist and go, there's no 2smokes left for the average guy in the street.

All we got is the memories and the nostalgia!
