My good lady got me a race school with ron haslam for christmas, so last weekend i attended, and what a fantastic day it was! weather was great, perfect conditions!

We started at about 11am and finished around 3pm, i got some decent track time (3x20 mins) on my first sitting i got moved onto the faster group of the day, and then spent the next two sittings picking up the pace.. my speed and bike controll wasnt an issue, however my smoothness was... coming from racing supermoto, im pretty aggressive so thats something i need to work on.

At the end of the day we all sat down and the instuctors gave there comments and gave out prizes, i came second (silver) on the day, and i was told that i need to do some more as they.. and i quote "can see the racer in me" so i was pretty chuffed!

After all that was over, due to a booking error a few weeks previous, as compensation i got to fly around the track on the back of Ron Haslam!
we did about 5 good speed laps.. then 4 utterly mind blowingly mental laps... ive never seen or felt a bike load the front tyre that much without washing out... it was bonkers fast! but i loved every second! one ticked off the bucket list!

anyway, pics!

I've always wondered, what happens if you crash on a day like this?

Do you have to pay for anything?

As i was flying around on the back of Ron a red flag went out due to a guy on the afternoon sitting falling off 3 mins into his day.. just ran wide and binned it in the gravel, he wasnt aloud back out for the rest of the day, His wife was not happy when the instructor told him that was his day over and everyone clapped.. she was shouting at him all the way to the kit room!

Wow thats pretty harsh.

I think at Chris Walker you just have a hefty excess but can pay extra on the day to reduce the excess. Although nobody crashed on the day my friend did, but plenty of people ran wide and over the grass at scary speeds.

How does the quality of instruction compare to what you'd get on a normal trackday?

It sounds good but I can't see that there's enough track time to take full advantage of it!!

I've had people who instruct for IAM and stuff who have also done time as a trackday instructor who recommend just using one of them instead

But then again, you aren't risking your own bike either Laughing

How did you manage to hold on to him during his fast laps? I went pilly on the back of a mates Daytona and was getting cramps and thought I was gonna fall off just cruising at motorway speeds!

Can't believe they cry if you crash their bikes, it isn't like they are excessively hard up. Shocked

Just have a £1000 damage excess, with the option to reduce it to £0 for a £100 advance or on-the-day payment.

With the number of people who would take that out I'd have thought they'd be able to buy a replacement bike for every one that gets crashed.
