right, just noticed my exhaust is blowing, so checked headers - seemed ok

checked end can - twas wobbly, but clamp onto link pipe was tight Shocked

so checked where the link pipe goes into the collector (under the bike) an you could pull the link pipe out. but the clamp was on maximum tightness

So, needing the bike tomorrow, i whipped the Scorpion can off an stuck the standard/ original one on

first thing stardard can is fookin massive & weighs a tonne, went around the block a few times an its spookily quiet too

if my mixtures n stuff have been changed to match the Scorpion can*, could/ will i damage anything with just swapping over to the standard mahoosive exhaust?

sorry for the long post

*im pretty sure the mixture screws are out 4 turns instead of 2

Would imagine with standard can on it may go slightly rich, but not to the point I would worry if its temporary thing - If you were going to rag it round for months on end I would say do a plug check, for a few days - wouldn't bother, just be gentle with it....

As for gasket, get next size down pipe clamp, or fit new gaskets with Exhaust assembly paste - they will go together easier and the paste blocks and tiny little holes.

If the gaskets are a loose fit, use a cheap bathroom silicone to install instead of exhaust paste - it sets to a rock hard white seal, and it stays adhesive for quite a while too.

Years ago, Scorpion said no alterations to fuelling were required. They are quick to respond by email so might be worth a quick one but you shouldn't need to do anything.

Aren't the mixture screws on most motorcycle carburettors purely for the fuelling at idle?

Yes, at or very near idle. Won't make any difference past that.

cheers all, i dont know why but i had horrible images of me melting things or something

i didnt realise how hot standard (steel) cans get

just been told i need a gasket that goes in the collector (mine hasnt got one?!) then i stick the scorpion 'zorst back on

the bike seems more responsive with the standard can on though, which is odd....i thought cans - especially carbon type gave you at least 600% more powaaa?

You can pay £1000's for a custom built ultra high performance exhaust, if the gaskets are missing it wont work....
