According to MCN sources in Japan, the new bike – likely to be called GSR1000 – will use a re-tuned version of the 182bhp 999cc inline four-cylinder from the GSX-R1000, and will retain a performance-orientated chassis. It’s aimed at rivalling the Aprilia Tuono V4R, BMW S1000R, and Kawasaki Z1000.

The new GSR1000 will be the first time Suzuki has had a superbike-derived naked in the range since the ill-fated GSX1300 B-King naked hyperbike was canned in 2012 after failing to meet sales targets.

If they want to rival the BMW, just leave the full fat 180+hp bike in there, whack some different sprockets to give it less of a top end and let the user play with it rather than "you can have a gay version of the engine, tuned for low and mid range"

I am completely.......whelmed.

Looks wise, it's a complete miss for me. It just looks like too many other recent bikes - only worse.

I am sure it will be a hoot to ride, but I'm struggling to tune into this thing where the bodywork just appears to be bits and pieces stuck on here and there. Is it just me? Am I getting old, living in the past? Probably. Sigh.

Wouldn't mind owning one, but I'd swap the headlight for a round one right away. They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with modern headlight design, this one is just yet another pointed beaky robot snout thingy.

I don't think the down tuning of the engine will be a problem.as soon as the tuning company's get there hands on one They will soon be back up there

Naked can be achieved easily. Crash a faired bike

Problem - there is now no protection for the frame. Crash again, and the frame will be fucked.
