Hi all, found this on ebay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121379422355?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Obviously its ugly and hideous and he's completely ruined it, but i find myself in need of a dirt cheap bike in order to get to work (as i dont drive).

My main question is will this get through an MOT as easily as he claims? Can bikes that looks that shite actually get through an MOT, considering the lack of tail fairings etc?

I also wonder why a sane person would tear the fairings off a nice bike, unless it had been thrown down the road?

Opinions?

As long as it is safe it will pass, bikes dont need fairings to pass, just the ones that are on are secure. My z750 passed with a big hole where the rear seat should of been.

99% complete? Yeah right, if it were as simple as he's claiming then he'd do it himself and put it through the MOT.

It's a fugly half finished project so not ideal for getting you to work.

I'd read it as "Crashed bike, started making it hideous as can't afford to fix, realised something is wankered now selling with a reserve price because I'm a whacked out fantasist".

If it's as he claims it's less than an hour to sort the brakes and attach reflector. Maybe a day to do a quick rattlecan paint job then an hour the next morning to reattach painted bits and take to MOT. Why would he not do that and sell for more?

If I was you look around more there's no shortage of cheap decent things knocking around I just bought a zzr with a years T&T and enough spares to almost build another for 400 notes. Just refresh gumtree every time you get a spare moment when something you like comes up get right on the phone fast.

'Welcome to the VERY reluctant auction for my much loved ZXR 750J....The bike is 99% ready for MOT, all she needs is the front brakes bleeding up and a reflector on the plate and it will pass!....I really don't want to sell her but I've not had a chance to touch it lately with the new arrival...I fitted 2 tyres to it at some point last year, not done much mileage at all since they were fitted...I cant say the mileage of the bike right now...This is truely a nice easy project for someone to finish off in an hour or 2 that will be very much enjoyed!...If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me....I drive for a living so may not answer straight away but i will return any missed call/txt i receive!'

All of the above jibber-jabber is standard bullshit when selling a fuckedbike. If it genuinely requires only an hour or two of time spent on it to pass the MOT then he would find that time in-between changing shitty nappies
I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
AVOID!

I echo the consensus on here.

If it was that easy to get it MOT'd he would have done so. I smell something fishy, and its not the contents of Baldricks apple crumble....

If all it needs to pass an MOT is an hour to bleed the brakes and stick a reflector on the number-plate... essentially no cost, just time... it would have been done, 'cos 1 hr to get it tested would make it a truck site more easy to sell, and save more time dealing with tyre kickers asking stupid questions.
Its an unfinished project. Which in real terms equates to 'spares or repairs'... you either break it for bits, or you pull it to bits and start over... hoping there isn't too much been too badly fucked up along the way to ever sort...
I mean, who would get a bike 99% done, and chuck gawd knows, how much ££ in bits to get it there, then let it go for pennies on e-bay IF it could be stuck on the road?
WHAT is the 'stoppa'? It sure as fuck isn't bubbles in the brake lines!
But either way; whatever you want, what you say you NEED is a ready rider, with tax and test on it, turn up hand over cash, ride to work.
Plenty of them about, but you might have to settle for something a tad less 'exiting' for your money to get it.... BUT far more exiting riding the damn thing, than getting frustrated trying to untangle some other twits mechanical maledies, BUYING thier problems off them.

Don't bid on it unseen.

Go and view it and decide for yourself, whether that's before the auction ends, or afterwards when his bidders turn out to be fantasists. Offer what you think it's worth on the spot, or walk away.

It's just an advert saying that a bike with no MOT is up for sale, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the details.

There are numerous 'fightered bikes around Manchester for around £800 with full MOTs.

I met a bloke who had a ZX6R J1 who happily admitted he came off it by being a plonker and did a streetfighter jobbie rather than fixing it.

It is ugly but it runs.

Similarly there was a fazer 1000 which was a dog but had 8 months MOT for £700 in Sheffield..

Bolton there is a hideous GS500E for £400 with 9 months of MOT on it, it looks like every single inch of it has been hit with a ball pein hammer though.

It sounds as though he doesn't pick it up anyway. Like most rogues, he'll check who's called him and only respond to potential future victims. Hence the bollocks about him being a driver and thus unable to always take calls.

£795 for a bike which looks like its been thrown down a mountain...

Thanks for the advice lads, does make sense. It looks as though I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and bore myself to death with a divvy or something.

Dunno how much $$$ do you want to spend? I see lots of hideous but 10-11 months MOT bikes, I don't buy them of course.

Don't be a pussy. If you like the bike, go and see it and make your own mind up. My last MOT took all of 5 minutes, and that included the typing time. It's not hard to determine if a bike is basically sound.
