SEO is a bit of a mine field, you need to run a server that analyses the relevant search words your looking to implement into your site's copy and titles, content is king when it comes to SEO. Thumbs Up

Links, build lots of back links.

Alternatively, hire an SEO company that knows what they're doing.

Thumbs Up

Hi

Problem is the SEO effectively means knowing how google will rank your site. And they are quite tight lipped about how they do that, and also quite prone to changing their mind about it and screwing up all your effort.

All the best

Keith

SEO for this thread is pretty poo by BCF standards!!

Search for Help for SEO and this thread is at the bottom of page 14, da fuq is that about! Add in some quotations marks, so search for "Help for SEO" and this thread is still only at the top of the second page.

Still, in b4 SEO spam bots arrive. Laughing

A forum like this carries serious weight with Google though and will rank pages for key words really quickly.

They change their minds to keep people from abusing the system, then when they switch it up those abusers get sent to the bottom of the pile. I've been present in a room when said thing happened and looking back on it, it was hilarious!

They also give guides on how to do it and how to improve rankings the proper way. The problem is (for me) finding time to read the thousands of articles on the subject.

Adding quotes to a search term makes is specific so pages with more content containing the keywords will show up in relevance to the search.

The best SEO advice I've ever seen came from Google themselves and makes an awful lot of sense if you think about it.

You won't like it though, because it isn't a quick fix. Make the site 100% accessible. Descriptive tags on all elements which can use them, proper use of header tags, ensure your pages fit into a well structured box model and everything has correct spelling and grammar.

Think about it. Accessibility means making the site easily read by a blind person using their special kit. Which is exactly what Google's web crawler is doing. Reading the site contextually without being able to see it.

Once that's done, build your relevant backlinks, link to other relevant sites and make sure you update your content regularly, so the site doesn't look like an abandoned service station on the M6.

I've also seen the power in owning a couple high PR domain names and setting up a bog standard Wordpress install, with one article linking back to your site/page/product and it having massive effect on the linked to site.

Google looks at the IP's though, so in order to point more high PR domains at your website, you need sites sitting on multiple IP's.

You can bid on high PR domain names on auction sites and win them for a couple hundred dollars if you're lucky.

The more outbound links on a website/directory, the more dilution you get. So if you own the domain and only have a couple links on it to your own sites, it's pretty powerful stuff.

Sorry for the late reply everybody!

Thanks for all the tips and advice, we have looked into getting an SEO company on the job but like some of you said its hard to tell whether they are very good at getting you to pay for a service you wont benefit from.

Essentially we would like someone to do the job for us, as we dont have the foggiest idea in what SEO requires ( apart from what you guys has given us Smile )

Simple way to check if SEO company is any good is to look at their clients list (if they don't have them, don't bother), go and Google them for related search terms and if they aren't on page 1, they obviously are not very good at SEO Cool

Edit and add to the meta data on your site.

<meta name="description" content="We are proud to announce our new website! Designed with a fresh new look and user-friendly navigation, updated with the latest information about our motorcycles and" />

<meta name="keywords" content="adrenaline motorcycles,new website" />

With the keywords you can add as much as you like, try and think of what people will search for and add it comma seperated. It needs to be relevant too. Then do the same for each page on the site, again making it relavant.

As mentioned before you need to add alternative data to links/pictures etc eg. alt="link to xyz"

Then tell google about your site, so they know it's there.

Another thing to do is to start a thread about your site on a public forum, that will direct at least some traffic your way Wink

I'm new to this, but hopefully that's helpful.
