Work on our project bike is slowly getting moving and a decision has been made on our colour scheme. We did originally plan on putting tank and panels in for a pro respray but I'd rather spend £60 doing it myself than the £400ish we've been quoted.
The idea is a solid colour with a single (maybeee double) stripe down the centre of the bike. My query is, how would folks go about it? Is masking tape the best way? I've used this method before and it resulted in a lot of refinishing work to get a crisp edge. I'm considering vinyl for the stripe but where should I be buying from to get quality stuff that won't shrink? I presume lacquer over the top is gonna protect it fine anyways.
Also, top tips for painting rocker cover and carb tops are welcome. ____________________ My deviantArt gallery - My Youtube profile

Thanks for the responses. Karma when I get home.
I'm such a numpty, I'd just used masking tape on my last job as it was what I had at the time. Edging tape sounds better. I see vinyls as an easier option but as with yours gav I'm concerned with wrinkle. Surely a matte vinyl would lacquer better than a glossy? Overall finish will be gloss but the lacquer takes the ultimate shine right. ____________________ My deviantArt gallery - My Youtube profile
