Ducati Monster 620Si E 2003 model twin front discs.

Brake fluid got all over the front tyre today and it is visible it has come from the bottom of the calliper.

Cheapest seal kit I can find is £48 on ebay.

I assume this is the case that a seal has gone internally, probably one of the small ones, not the piston ones.

Is this brake a standard brake and can I get the seals somewhere else cheaper?

Is this definitely the problem?

Looks like the standard P4 30/34 goldline series. Total bugger to find repair kits if needed.

Even with all those pics it's difficult to tell whether the piston seal has failed or it's leaked between the caliper halves.

The join does look more open at the bottom, and the head of that bolt looks like it may have been weeping before it finally let go.
See if you can tighten it up a little more and maybe take a few more thousand pics. Smile

Callipers will be coming off tonight to inspect further.

Cheers.

You'll probably find the seal for the caliper half moved slightly when getting clamped back up and has nipped or they didn't bolt it down properly.

Brembo seals kits aren't officially available unfortunately. The ones on eBay will be fairly representative on price - the only other places you could try that I can think of are KTM spares agents and dealers - for some reason they can still obtain and supply seal kits.

You could check the tightness of the bolts holding the caliper halves together, but if the O rings have been pinched then you're going to have to replace them anyway.

The good news is that Brembo calipers are a doddle to work on.

Split the caliper last night.

There is 1 pressure O-ring sealing the 2 halves and it looks fine.

I am thinking it must be leaking from one of the pistons. Tonight I will clean them all up with a toothbrush and pop the pistons out.

Should be able to rebuild the caliper with this.

The 600 may have different calipers to the 620 - yours look different to the ones on our m750 and m900. Try this instead:

m900 used the single pin design for retaining the pads, the mark I goldline as it were.

the op does apear to have the mark II, which has 2 pad retaining pins

That's why I pointed out the other ebay search - I doubt the seal sets are identical. Thumbs Up
