Full review here.

So, the bike is apparently out in Thailand (where's it's made) and as you'd expect it's more of the same, just a little faster:

Quote:
Ride wise, I honestly couldn’t feel any difference between this and the 250R. And that’s not a surprise – the frame, suspension and forks are all exactly the same as before. Even the riding position is unchanged, though this time Honda is releasing an aftermarket kit to lower the seat height by an inch for the vertically challenged.

Brakes are exactly the same as beforehand as well which is fine. They’re more than adequate and will keep stopping without an issue even at a trackday. ABS is of course an option.

Unfortunately, Honda has still chosen to fit the rubbish Thai manufactured IRC tires which are made for extreme durability but offer horrible grip even in moderate conditions. These are the same as used on the CBR250R. That Honda believes it’s acceptable to fit cross-ply tires on a modern motorcycle is truly awful and spoil what is an otherwise great beginner bike. We haven’t been able to confirm if 1980 technology radial tires will be fitted for western markets, but don’t hold your breath. Budget an extra few hundred dollars to replace them immediately.

Shame about the tires, seems pretty dumb for a begginer bike.

Trouble is that it isn't a beginner bike. You need the same licence for it as a 500 at least or even a full A, so for £4kish what can you get?

SFV650?

Ninja 300

MT07? If going slightly over 5k

Plus loads of other used bikes...

I can see a point to it sort of

Cheap to tax

Cheap to run (good commuter maybe)

You'll always be working it to get the best from it which some people enjoy more than the lazy power of bigger engines (part of why I miss my 250)

Not to intimidating for new riders

However a naked version would probably suit my above points better.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm dirt poor and refuse to buy a bike that costs more than about 500 quid anyway.... I'd get one, would be great fun to thrash around the rural roads in my end of Wiltshire.

Bet it will sell shedloads in the US too as a "My first SQUID bike", kind of like the Ninja 250 which is a fairly good seller over there.

I agree, I ride a 125 as I kind of perversely enjoy having to use all the bike through all the gears rather than let the hp do the work, but that will only get you so many riders.

Whether the tyres are cross-ply or radial is neither here nor there really, it'll be the rest of the make up of the tyre and the compound that's affecting grip for the reviewer.
