I'm trying to get a decent, yet cheap service to send a zxr400 rear shock to Italy.
Signed for is needed
Tracking is a bonus.

Who would you use?

No actual recommendations but...

I have read (interweb is wonderful) that shipping stuff to Italy can be a problem with tracking etc. IIRC many eBay sellers specifically don't ship to Italy (well, for items I was looking at). Certainly don't trust postal service, Royal Mail here handing over to Italian post service.

I would go with a global courier company, e.g. UPS. Then again, I'm not the one wanting to send stuff to Italy.

Hope you get sorted.

I have posted a few things to Italy and I think I have had about a 50% success rate of things arriving. I have read that their postal service is terrible. This was a while ago and I used Parcelforce with their insurance service (airsure or something?) which made claiming for the lost items quite easy. Although I think they may have stopped offering insurance on delivery to Italy because of the amount of claims.

I haven't sent anything recently, but I know when I looked at it last it didn't really make much difference who you sent it with as the problems occurred after customs with the local services.

Ooh, just down the road from Imola, I might be tempted to go there Laughing

Yep, That's not too far out of my way, so it's possible. As to when, it depends how long it takes to complete on my house. Got a chain free buyer, so could be anywhere between 6 week and 3 months. Don't know a date yet. So, if you're not in a rush, I can deffo do it, even if I drop it off sometime after we've got over here

If he has paid via paypal I would refund his money and sell it as a uk only sale.
The Italian postal/FedEx/ups system seems no better than my Hermes here. I sold a zxr400 ohlins shock via recorded delivery so Italy. It "didn't arrive" even though it was meant to be signed for. Paypal robbed the money back off me. It seems that parcels are just handed over in Italy with out being signed for.
