Just in case anyone is interested to see the pics, I came back last week from my first eurotrip on the versys, about 35 days.

My route was:
Birmingham, Gloucester, Portsmouth, Le Havre, Sable sur Sarthe (near Le Mans), La Rochelle, Lot et Garonne, Beziers, Cannes, Garbagna (south of Milan), Lake Garda, Bregenz (Austria), Alsace, Reims, Calais, Brum

Been back in blighty a few days and I'm itching to get going again. I really fancy doing norway, but as there is no ferry it seems except to denmark I might have to ride up. Or else explore a bit more through germany and do norway next year.

Just in case anyone was wondering about costs, I did ~3000 miles so probably over 300 quid in fuel. Campsites varied from around 6 euro a day (in the north) to 30 euro a day (down south, particularly by beaches). So probably around 450 euro in all. Food I spent next to nothing as eating baguettes etc.

Things I found rapidly:

I brought too much stuff. Ditch the textile trousers in summer as they just get sweaty, just bring kevlar jeans and waterproofs. Don't bring too many t shirts etc as you can hand wash them at the campsites. I needed to buy another sleeping bag because it got very cold in the north at night. I also bought a much better airbed at intersport, because you need a comfy sleep.

Best tip I read on here: When it is really hot, before you set off, drench your t shirt / jeans in water from the tap. People think you are mad but the water evaporates and cools you down as you ride.
