I'm looking to head to the nurburgring next year, heading through belgium and luxemburg but i'm struggling with planning the trip.

How do you lot go about planning them? I use google maps but it just plots the fastest direct route (motorway) and modifying it is a pita. Is there an easier way to plan a trip taking in all the better roads etc? Any apps or websites out there?

Plan a route????????????????????????????? Just see where the roads go that you like the look of in roughly the direction you want to go. Then an hour before bed time press the button on the sat-nav and follow it to bed. Thumbs Up

If i'm on a jolly. I put the destination in the sat nav and then turn it to show the compass, head in that general direction, avoiding motorways and you'll usually come up with some decent riding.

I drove (sorry, family holiday Embarassed ) from Bastogne to The Nurburgring via Clerveaux last year and the roads were excellent.

From there, the B258 back to Monschau is a great biking road, as are the roads down into the Mosel valley. I really like Cochem as a base when in the area on the bike Thumbs Up

Mitchellin Europe map.

Their maps are nothing special but they have green routes pre-marked on the maps, which usually turn out to be nice biking roads or at least have good scenery.

For example 2007 I mention 'green route' a lot same in 2008 this is what I'm referring to.

I set a long destination, i.e. Gibraltar then looked at the Michelin map for the route with the most green outlines.

Some of the roads turned out to be great some turned out to be ok, while all of them had nice scenery.

Google Maps can be a Royal PITA but try not to rush and you can customise routes quite easily.
