Interview tips - Ski season.

Hey guys,
I applied for a job on Natives.co.uk for a hotel assistant at a ski resort this November. I've now been invited to an interview for a shift supervisor position, from what I can work out it's like the position between management and staff, probably have to take shit from both directions.

Anyway the email says "Please bring something with you to present at the group interview that shows your skills and suitability for the job you have been invited in for, in the most imaginative and creative way possible. Please bear in mind that you need to demonstrate your suitability for the job."

Now I don't have a problem with getting up and talking a load about how I'm suitable for the job, I just don't have a clue what sort of "imaginative and creative" item to take along. Has anyone got any ideas or been to a similar interview? Never done a group interview before either so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

What a bullshit thing to get you to do. Is the job being a hotel assistant or some sort of performing arts wanker?

Bring along a friend who can play the part of a drunken guest being troublesome. You deal with the situation correctly, win.

If it's a group interview then it'll be more about how you interact with the others in the group more than the object you bring, or even to an extent the talk you give to go along with the object. They'll want to see you engage everybody, rather than just directing your answers to the interveiwer. Things like that.

Bring along a carefully compiled list of asinine interview questions and techniques, and a lighter.

I made it down to the final cut of seven people for an assessment day at a well renowned PR firm, and fairly hotly contested position the other day following a drunken and speculative last minute application. The preceding phone interview was a breeze, and then I got to the office a few days later.....

it had three "mood rooms", beach huts and a boardwalk in the office, and a fucking dog running around.

Fuck PR, I'll be continuing my hunt for a training contract

Not yet, I'm a recent undergraduate. I'm chancing my arm for this year and possibly next by only targeting firms who'll pay for it. Got a decent 2.1, final year electives that should be of interest to them, and a pretty varied CV that shows a decent amount of commercial awareness as I started my undergrad just after I turned thirty.

I realise it's pretty competitive out there, but I have read of too many people who've paid the £10k+ for the LPC themselves and are still without a TC; I'm not prepared to take that risk.

I'll give myself two runs of apps, maybe three and then likely do the graduate fast-track CILEX distance learning (c.£2.5k currently) if things don't go to plan.

If you do the LPC through BPP, and don't get a Pupillage/TC within 6 months* they'll let you study something else for free, so could even branch out into ACCA/CIMA or other financial fields.

If you go via the University of Law (formerly College of Law) you can choose to do the LPC and have the LLM thrown in for free too

*No doubt loads of small print so you have to be over the age of 90 with all surviving grandparents or somesuch.

Cheers for the replies guys. I'm just gonna take a bunch of cutlery and a place mat and demonstrate how to set up a place for dinner. Maybe if I do it naked that will be "imaginative and creative" enough for them.
