Hi ,

One fool had pushed my bike to the ground while trying to move his bike out of the way. Because i had crash protectora no significant damage was caused

The fact that he has done it and made no attempt to lift it up is driving me nut. One of my collegue seen him doing it and so i am reviewing the cctv footage and want to put a claim through to his insurance provider using my insurance legal aid system

Do you think i should do this?

I guess if i do it i have to declare claim made for future insurance renewal which i think it will impact my premium hence why i am thinking whether i should do it or not.

Report to police for vandalism ?

Just confront him, ask him to pay for some new crash protectors.

actually after getting the footage it looks like he did try to move his out but couldn't so did slowly dropped mine on the floor and then moved his bike .

after that he came back to lift it up and it was too heavy se he left it .

as i said not a great deal of damage but would you claim or let it go and maybe leave a note on his bike saying I saw you but don't do that type things again and leave my number in case he wants to call and apologise Smile

I wouldn't want to involve insurance if damage is minor but I would be demanding he makes right any damage, no matter how small. You don't drop another guys bike that's a real cunt thing to do and then to not only not pick it up but not go and tell the owner it's on the ground is just extra cuntish.

The insurance will tell you to GTFO.

Insurance doesn't cover you for stuff that happened when the vehicle wasn't even involved.

If you are fully comp you can make a vandalism claim on your own insurance policy, but you will likely lose any NCB.

Depends if the other person was on his bike at the time.

If the pusher overer was sat on his bike paddling it backwards and knocked the OP's bike over then a claim can be filed against the other guy.

The OP's NCB will not be affected either.

However, it sounds like there is definite proof that there is criminal damage.

OP said that the dude layed his bike on the floor, then moved his own bike.

That says to me he wasn't on the bike at the time.

What kind of idiot drops a bike over so they can get theirs out.....

Could he simply not move it a bit.

TBH. You need to have a word and tell them just how much damage can be done to a bike left on its side....
Oil/petrol leaking out etc.

Who parked last? meaning he could not get out??

You can't just claim compensation with a note on the bike, if I found something like that on my seat I'd laugh and bin it.

What is the actual damage? Pictures speak 1000 words as they say. A scratch on a mint panel is worse than a dink on a £10 bar end. The damage and the culprits attitude would be the deciders for me:

1) My bike is far from mint, if somebody tried moving it, lost balance but laid it down gently, didn't cause any damage, then couldn't pick it up and panicked and left. When confronted it is clear they panicked, and they are very apologetic. I'd probably just let it slip.

2) If I had a mint bike, somebody pushed it over causing £500 of damage, then told me to fuck off when I asked them about it, I'd be a lot more likely to pursue justice of some sort, be that compensation, prosecution or retribution.

It sounds to me like this is closer to scenario 1 than 2!

If it's closer to number 1 then speak to the guy and see what he says before going full blown Terminator.

it's quite believable that he panicked, didn't know what to do, and scurried. If you speak to them reasonably you might find a donation forthcoming.

You might not, but what have you lost for trying?
