ok, I picked up my bargain Powerbronze hugger for £25 (brand new still in bag!!)

however...

I have two issues:

1 Arrow My twin cans come up and around the swinging arm, which is where the hugger bolts to.
The left hand side is fine..

But the right hand side actually bolts to the outside of the swing arm and has a bracket between the hugger and swing arm. This causes the hugger to touch the exhaust Rolling Eyes

I was thinking maybe of cutting the hugger where the exhaust is touching:

how far do you think i would need to cut away from the exhaust? (to prevent melting)

2 Arrow It's not straight:

Its off to the left and actually touching the tyre......

Jay has suggested moving it back a bit by making the holes slightly wider with a file. Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Swaffs.

Hopefully it will be fixed today, because it's so damn dark when I get home for work there's no change of working on it during the week.

Oh, the joy of fitting aftermarket plastics...

Those twin cans look cool...never seen such a setup on an inline 600 before...

In regards to the problems:

1.) Is it possible to fiddle with the link pipe a bit to give a bit slack from the hugger? The fact that it touches the hugger must mean that it sits pretty darn close to the swingarm already? That's not normally a good thing...

2.) Is the this the reason why it was such a bargain? i.e manufacturing defect. The only thing that I have against widening the holes is that it could well slip in-between positions, unless you find a way of subsiquently securing it in position.

Sorry, can't be of more help Razz

Swaffs,

I'm not sure that Huggers meant for standard CBR6's and Custom made Renes mix... Smile

If the hugger touches the tyre then some very strange things can happen, as I had the misfortune to find out! Basically, my Pyramid Plastics hugger on the Daytona touched my tyre for a short period of time after I removed the wheel to change the rear brake pads. It made that part of the tyre really greasy and I almost crashed a couple of times when leaning to the left. Not pleasant.

ok here's my plan I think.
cutting it on the right hand side seems like the way ahead, to avoid the exhaust (unable to move link pipe) however i still have the issue with it touching the wheel.

I can't push the hugger out on the right with specers because of the exhaust, so it needs to be pushed from the left.

https://www.swaffs.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/Hugger6.jpg

If I move the hugger inside the bracket it actually straightens it up nicely;

https://www.swaffs.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/Hugger8.jpg

but then I have another issue...
https://www.swaffs.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/Hugger9%7E0.jpg
(hugger highlighted in yellow)

I'm happy it's far enough from the chain however the bolts on the sprocket are VERY close.

so i think a little bit hacked of here:

should do the job.

This does seem like a lot of work but, it's the only way I'm going to get a hugger to fit.

My friend has a pyramid hugger and it fits using the same brackets so that's not going be any different.

I sent a Powerbronze one back cos it didn't fit, rubbed on the tyre no matter what we did with it.
