If your going in for your test i would highly recommend you get some lessons before hand. They really are worth the money.

Basically these are the things they will be checking you on

You have to check your blind spots when seting off (right shoulder).
A life saver when makin a turn (left if left turn and vica versa).
You have to do an emergancy stop and if you pull your clutch in too soon or change down before you stop you will fail (forever getting that wrong in my lessons).
Have to do a U-turn without putting your foot down (Not that easy on a NSR).

I think thats about it..Wont be suprised if i've got somthing wrong or missed something out so anyone feel free to correct me. Has been a while since i did my test..you get alot of bad habbits.

Good luck Scabz

Im doing my test this month (23rd). Summy is right, even if you've been driving for years don't even think about doing the test without taking refresher lessons, they arn't a waste of money. I've been driving for 7 months, already had two refresher lessons, and realised how totally crap I am at OSM routine (Observation Signal Manouvre), lifesaver checks, and totally crap at U-Turns, very very difficult on an NSR because of the large turning circle. Found with the u-turns you gotta get the steering right over from the start and swing the bike round at a fairly good speed, otherwise its impossible. I'm doing my test on my bike (and god help me!).

Got another two lessons, but am drilling myself in the evening. It's very hard to get into the habit of doing whats expected of you in the test.

The best advice I can give you is get at least 4-6 lessons and listen to your instructor, its good to have someone point out where you're going wrong mate. Some of the DSA books on the practical test are useful too; (Official Motorcycling - CBT, Theory & Practical Test - £7.99) Hope this helps. Laughing

If an old fart like me can do it so can you! Don't be put off, just enjoy your bike on your "L" plates and get to know your bike well ! After a while the bike is part of you and you can do almost anthing with it.

The rest they say is easy!

Took my test yesterday and passed, the u turn was taken in a road that I only just managed to wheel the bike round in, but, having spent the last 6 weeks with my bum grafted to the saddle, and getting out of all sorts of scrapes, the U turn did not seem that daunting!

Go Luck

You can do it

Im gonn atake mine soon as well, who do i need to call and how much is it??

As for the lessons, my mate took 2 and said that they were a complete waste of money, I spose its all down to the individual.
I think ill take one to start and then see how i go.
